Im so happy when i get to watch a realistic paycheck budget that i can relate to. Some budget videos pull out 10 plus binders and do 10 plus savings challenges. Those feel more like playing with money videos than budgeting.

Get a studio apartment. Worse case scenario, find all loyal person you can call a roommate.
@wagonhound_official2 ай бұрын
It's possible. After I got done traveling at the age of 22, I went down and lived with my grandparents in Texas, and I saved over 3k in 3 months working at 7-11 for $9 an hour, just 40 hours a week, rarely any overtime. Use that time at your parents wisely, and don't forget to have fun too. I rode my bike everywhere and I still got to play music at an open mic at a bar every Tuesday. And they lived in a suburb of Austin so about once a month I would ride my bike the 25 miles to 6th Street and got to let loose. After everything was said and done, I was able to move back to Idaho (halfway across the country) with my friend and get into an apartment! You can do this
@wagonhound_official2 ай бұрын
ALSO, after said friend bought a house up there in Idaho (before COVID) I moved back to Texas a few years after COVID and bought a house here in a college town with just 2500 down! If there's any houses in your area that are 200k or less and you think you can handle the responsibility, if you get 10-20k saved in a year you have everything you need for a down payment and closing costs on a 200k home. If you start talking to Mortgage lenders they'll tell you exactly what you need to do. I wish I had done it sooner but I'm glad I was finally able to buy an affordable home at 29

Another thing w internet and phone bill is to negotiate it yearly. I always get on chat with an associate each year for both my bills and ask for any loyalty discounts. “Try to leave” their service for a retention price etc. this really really helped. This is the problem when it comes to benefits and subsidies. You are a young, smart, hard working lady trying to better yourself. You make a little extra money whether it's getting promoted or getting a new job and then the government says you make too much and then all of the assistance and subsidies goes away. That's just wrong. There's no incentive for people in general to better themselves. What should be done is to assist you MORE. That would help get you in a direction where, in the future, you won't have to rely on government assistance programs. I wish you the best of luck!! ❤Keep up the great work and you'll get there!! 😊

No single mother should be making such low wages. I pray and pray I change my ways and pray some more . I’m beginning to think this is hell. I’m losing any kind of hope I had left and can’t seem to make goals anymore since it always fails can’t afford hobbies/friends/life/time away/anything that brings joy and fulfillment I’m truly at my breaking point. How does the government get away with this?

I hate that you are paying market level rent in subsidized housing!!! They need to evaluate those percentages because at $16/hour single income is so crazy that you don’t qualify. I was a low income single mother for many years, you are doing it right. My saving grace was being able to buy a home at 22. It provided stability and affordability for 15 years until I married my husband. You are really doing a great informed job and I hope this channel continues to thrive!

Hi! How were you able to get a house at 22? Taking notes ✍️📄
@amorous_critic2 ай бұрын
@@07ikkin this was in 2008 right before the subprime housing bust. I live in a lower cost of living area- in the Midwest, I had a full time job, had recently graduated college and had a good (but not great) credit score at that time, and bought a house that was 60K. I only had to put 5% down, and my realtor advised to have the seller pay closing costs to keep what I had to put down to less than $3K. I had a very manageable mortgage payment on that loan, and refinanced several years later to a lower interest rate. My mortgage payment including taxes and escrow was around $575 average.

@@amorous_critic oh WOW. Do you have it paid off now? And thank you for sharing. I stress so much about the cost of housing. I am doing okay but unless something changes, I'll be paycheck to paycheck in a few years

I started having to write out bills to help me budget as well. Right now, my wife has been healing from surgery the past few months. So Ive been covering the bills. Main thing I do is split the rent out of both checks during the month, it definitely helped me out. But you are doing a good job budgeting with what you have.

Thank you miss custodian. I appreciate what you do. I worked in schools for at least 35 years. I am retired. I was not a teacher, but started as a cafeteria lady, moved on to work in the district in various capacities. I have a great retirement because I worked in a school district. I started as a single mother in the district when i was a young single mother. So stay where you’re at, and keep doing what you do. It isn’t easy i know that for sure. But when your a OG like me.70 years, you will be glad you did. If you can when you can. Pay at least one of those monthly utility bill for 1 year. I know it’s hard, but………you will be surprised how that annual payment helps you save , because it helps you purchase things like. A nice little outing with you and your kids, frees up money for Christmas. Or, put that money in an emergency account. Oh and working for a school district. Get yourself a small side hustle. If you can sew, let be known . Advertise, that you do Hems ( as it in skirts and pants) . You will be surprised once that word gets out……you will make some money. I did that for years. And worked, and raised boys. If you can’t sew…..KZbin is your best friend and will help you. If you need a sewing machine. Buy from estatesales and garage sales to find one. Cheap and cheerful 🎉

This is a really good and inexpensive home made laundry detergent that I have used for years. Grate (using a box grater) 1 small bar (4.5 oz) of Fels Naptha soap, Grate it as fine as you can (you can also put the grated pieces in a food processor if you have one, but it's not necessary.) Mix the grated soap with 2 C Borax, 2 C washing soda (not baking soda). You can use Ivory soap, or Dr. Bonner's castile soap instead of Fels Naptha, but that will not remove stains and heavy soil as well as the Fels Naptha. You can also add a cup of baking soda to this mixture, but I find it works just as well without. Mix well and keep in an airtight container. Use two tablespoons per load of laundry. This works out to about 6 cents per load. If you have a front loader, you can put this in the dispenser tray and if you have a top loader, just put it in the bottom of the drum and let water fill a bit to dissolve before adding clothes. The only disadvantage is you might have to buy a larger box of the Borax and washing soda as these do not come in smaller sizes, but this recipe works very well. Fels Naptha soap is also an excellent stain remover - dampen the spot on the clothes and rub with the bar of soap. This will NOT suds up, but will work very well. It also will not hurt a H-E machine.

My Mum just asked for a bar of this! Said it’s also great on stains. I had no idea we used this when I was a child.
@Trustbutverify26513 ай бұрын
@@Smooshes786 It is great on stains - that's why it's in the "DIY laundry recipe." If you're using it as a stain remover, dampen the spot, then rub on the Fels Naptha soap and let the garment sit for a few minutes, then launder as usual. I love using this soap b/c I'm big on no plastic waste which is what the bottles of stain remover come in - and a bar of this lasts a long time.
@Smooshes7863 ай бұрын
@@Trustbutverify2651 thank you for all this information! We have the bar and the borax now and soon the rest. I tried the no waste natural laundry strips which were “ok” but definitely not great for any stains or discolouration. Thanks again, I’ve kept the recipe you shared and am happy for this new change!

Great budgeting! Short term disability and/or long term disability are so wonderful to have if available through one’s employer. For jobs that don’t include it at no cost it’s typically very affordable (less than $10 per pay period). It can be a life saver when you have to take time away from work to take care of your health while under the care of a medical provider (physical or mental). Great channel!! Great video! Subscribed!
