The recessive pieds are absolutely splendid. There's many years of work gone into getting them to that stage.

Great Show as always, lovely birds. I especially lied the grey green and Sky blue about half way through. But real quality throughout.

What Gorgeous Budgies. I just have regular budgies here in Canada and one English but I do not breed him as he has a handicap and is one of my "spudgie" budgies.

Agree with avoiding line breeding as a default. You need to know your birds.

I agree with you,sad the things we do through breeding

One thing is sure, one doesn´t exhibit those birds in countries where animal protection laws are in force, eg. Germany or Austria. The authorities will shut down the whole show only because of those budgies. And it´s neither a secret that the breeders of this budgie type have decreased enormously, they went to the more agil and natural budgie type.

Is he not the German champion as well? So presumably these birds are exhibited in Germany.

Sry I am very dissapoinited with these birds the whole Body shape and Heads are way to scruffy way to much Soft feather does not Look any thing like the Budgie in the Standards drawings way to big long mask feathers looks like its been plucked of a few. I have kept Budgies too. Unfortunately these are Rubbish. sry. :-(

I stopped raising and showing budgies because it's immoral to breed birds that can no longer fly. The more and more extreme features you breed for, only create disabled animals that can't function properly to survive on their own. Very sad. More power to you but it's not for me. Dogs that can't walk, labradoodles with skin allergies, cats breeds with tiny legs, fish that can't swim (new designer clownfish, gold fish extreme), and birds that can't fly! See anything wrong here or we just keep going? FYI the birds no longer look impressive or beautiful they look unhealthy and sad. I'm not trying to be mean my concern is for the animals. Just think about it, if you disagree that's fine.

Fully agreed, and what Matt called a "tame bird" was only one who didn´t even see what is in front and around him. That´s clearly visible @6:15. or at the pair @08:37.

Ray, you articulate your opinion very well and it’s difficult to disagree with the sentiment. In all aspects of man intervention, poultry, pigs etc we have served our own ends first. The exhibition side of any hobby will always draw debate, I realise the hobby I love is not supported broadly and try and showcase the husbandry aspect. What I do know is that the birds here had the very best of everything natural, living in hygienic environments with flights and perches to stimulate. For some people that will not be enough, and I’m respectful of that. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Matt

You sound like someone who should learn to keep their opinions to themselves

A good breeders can still breed awesome birds as good as his and still fly.. not say that his birds are any good though as I believe there wings a way to long and are ugly and I’m very surprised he is a champion as I don’t rate his bird very high. Ps . They are Australian birds not English.
