It is so great seeing them eating fresh veggies, I still struggle to get mine eat broccoli, and other green stuff, but slowly they begin to try these things.

I live in Australia and give my birds fresh gum leaves, grass seed when in season, fresh broccoli, spinach, kale, rye vita crackers and clean the perches with diluted eucalptus oil to reduce mites. They have bottlebrush seed heads and bits of fruit wood/native wood to pick apart and keep busy with, they are my best alarm clock always waking with he first light. On hot days or when molting they really enjoy a water spray, i have even taken them to the beach which they loved, mine are use to travelling in the car in their cage seat belted and love the views and have been on holidays with me, i always check with the owners of where im staying if they mind, and so far so good.

It's so nice to see them eat together and what good manners they have too. They all stand at the edge of the plate and not on the food. Very well-mannered! Except for the one on the top though. I don't know why Mango just stopped eating his veggies around 6 weeks ago. I don't offer any to him anymore because I just end up throwing it away and then I tried last week and he still not eating. Are yours frozen broccoli? Perhaps I can try that plus if Blueberry will eat it, he will follow.

i didn't get all my budgies at the same time... started with loco & olive... 2 months later, coconut... a couple months later, chewy.... and so on lol.. i didn't put them together right away. the boys obviously were together, since i had got them together. no problems... when i would get another budgie, i would keep them in a second cage by themselves to monitor them until i felt everyone was ok together.. anyways, i think you wouldn't have a problem putting your boys together soon. ;D

Thanks. I will try different ways. Did you buy all your budgies at the same time? If not, did you put the new one with existing ones instantly? I'm thinking if Mango and Blueberry get along well outside their cages, one day I'm going to house them together. It makes it easier to serve a plate of veggies on the bottom of the cage and let them feast and make the mess rather than on my coffee table. Definitely eating has brought them together along with playing. I am still monitoring them.

mine go through phases of not wanting to eat veggies too.. try offering it different ways... chop broccoli, hang it in the cage whole, offer it with kale or a little bit of lettuce (not much lettuce - not that great for them)

My budgies loves strawberry, apple (without seeds), banana, papaya, mango, pomegranate, some other fruits as well but should give them in little, more veggies and less fruits 👍

when my ill budgie George (well not any more) came back from hospital the vet doctor said to eat broccoli and egg. well my other budgie called Georgina is in hospital now WITH GEORGE.now the reason i shouted that is because he flew away and somebody on our road got him and he knew he was ours but he broke his leg. and when Georgina comes back he will come TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Hi I finally got a budgie after years of wanting one :D he was very tame from the first dat we got him (from a pet shop). He wont go in his bird bath or eat any fruit.. is this because hes not used to it or he doesnt like it? Also is the broccoli cooked or raw? Thanks hope you dont mind me asking so many questions

sorry for the late reply, i did not see this comment! your budgie needs to get used to everything.. it might take awhile for him to eat the food you are offering, but be persistent! the broccoli is raw.. and no problem, i don't mind helping! :)

I would just mix vegetables and stuff with his food but u will have to empty the foo each day.

You might want to give him seeds first then you can give them the veggies (males are easier to give veggies)

Why do you have a towel on the floor? Do you keep towel there all the time or only when feeding?

i keep the paper towel there when they have veggies.. i do this to help with the mess and for them to not lose so much through the bottom grate.

raw :) .. birds can not cook in the wild ;) .. however, you can give them boiled broccoli.. not sure if it takes away any vitamins though
