Aikido Doshu, Ueshiba Moriteru demonstration during the 49th All Japan Aikido Demonstration (2010) at the Nippon Budokan.
Grandson of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba, Moriteru Ueshiba succeeded to his father, Kisshomaru Ueshiba in 1998 at the age of 48.
Moriteru Ueshiba teachers every morning at the Hombu Dojo and travels around the world to gives seminars on a very regular basis.
His demonstrations are known to be very basics techniques, perfectly demonstrating what he teaches everyday on the mats.

Everybody is so disappointed about the fact that they're "acting", but it's a demonstration, not a fight! Aikido doesn't have fights.

yea, thats why 2011/2012 Ultimate Fighting Championship winner Anderson Silva was trained by Aikido master Take Sensei (Steven Seagal), because it doesnt work....

The technique could still be done but it would not be as smooth. It would also be more dangerous for the partner. Too little resistance does not help in polishing technique and too much resistance has the same problem. Ideally, in practice both partners take into consideration each other's skill level and both try to create the best conditions for improving technique. I personally don't want to practice fighting everyday but I would love to try to improve my understanding of the fundamentals that make possible any technique and test those principles with other people in a safe yet productive environment. I am sure, basically, other martial arts are like this too but I think Aikido is best know for this mindset.
