Actually, both USC and UCON were out coached by ND. The coach for ND pretty much used the same tactics by double teaming the two star players and forcing the rest of their respective teams to step up, but they couldn't. While Juju and Paige were taking tough shots, Hidalgo and Miles were taking a lot of less contested shots

She’s also the best oddball defender in the country. That what makes her the best player in the country it’s not just that she scores it’s that she can. She is the absolute glue defender. You can’t shake her. Her all around game is spectacular. I have seen the best players from Notre Dame over the years when Skyler came on and committed. I got season tickets. I’ve seen McBride. I’ve seen Jewel Lloyd. They were all incredible. I’ve seen Enrique. Hannah Hidalgo is the best player to ever step the court at Notre Dame. She is Jackie Brown in scoring. She is Skylar Diggins in tenacity and leadership. She is McBride and just Stone cold blooded. She is the best of each of the best players to ever play at Notre Dame.

Probably because UConn fans are more critical of their own team than those of other teams. Notre Dame highlighted how the flaws that many of us had seen in the games we won are a problem to solve. Notre Dame played a splendid game and the 56% 3pts against UConn's 17% proves it. Why did UConn shoot so poorly? Unlike UConn, ND's defense allowed very few shots without pressure. To score 25 points, Bueckers had to work a lot and look for them in the painting, ND instead released his shooters much more effectively and for this credit goes to the coach

UConn has no size and bad permieter defense. ND guards were open for 3s all night long. They're going to struggle against the top teams. Everybody in the building knew Hildalgo was going to shoot at times and somehow UConn left her wide open on a bunch of occasions. Paige scored efficiently but never felt like she was taking over the game to get them completely back in it. I feel like that's a common theme with Paige in big games.
