+Kidgaming 101 Sure the city has seen better growth and wealth. But it's still a significant piece of American history. Although I've got to admit that some of your snowfalls are enough to make Canadians cringe. If you don't like the place do something to improve it. Kennedy told you guys that fifty years ago in his inaugural address.

It’s amazing how beautiful the Great Lakes are yet we let these amazing cities like Buffalo, Detroit, and Cleveland fall. Glad to see many of them starting to rise up and pull it together. Buffalo by far is the most livable and unique.

Rewatching this after all these years…it makes me wonder “woah! How much did this film really inspire this renaissance?” I actually feel like this film was part of the foundation of this rebirth we’ve experienced. We still have a ways to go, but we’ve made strides. I vote Yes on a new film! Show off the new Buffalo.

One thing that I love about Buffalo and am completely fascinated by as well, is how everyone is connected to everyone else. The city of about 300,000 acts like a town of 3000, where you can pull anyone (from anywhere in the city) out of their car and connect them to you within 10 degrees or less. It creates (in my opinion) a very large sense of community and family. In addition to the fact that you can barely leave your house without seeing someone you know.

Western New York honestly has a lot of nice places to go and things to see. Buffalo's East Side has it's fair share of problems but they've really renovated a lot of the city and brought more tourism in. The architecture is outstanding, you can truly see the history in the buildings.

We just moved home to Buffalo after years in a lot of great places and are really in love with the people and landscapes. We walk down small streets (near Elmwood) and the craftsmanship in every house is different and interesting. The waterfront, could be better but there are so many cool little spots. Islands, little beaches, marinas.... We see refugees making a comfortable new home and artists everywhere. There are so many hidden gems and good wierdos. It's good to be home.

That's one of best city wraps I've ever seen....As an Australian now in Thailand I had no idea the city had so much beauty including from the art deco period...I was sitting here wondering how such a knock out collection of 30s high rise buildings had survived the onslaught of modernism in our time....forgive me for saying that while Buffalo is a great name for a river, it doesn't work well for a city of parks and high achievers, with not a cowboy in sight. ..what could you call it....I wonder.....?

I went to school in Buffalo. I moved to the west coast 20+ years ago. Just went back this summer, and wow! Buffalo is really experiencing a renaissance! I can't believe it, walking down streets that had rows of boarded up buildings 20 years ago; now has thriving businesses. I hope it lasts! The only negative, is the weather. Very grey and extremely cold for about 4 months. My experience has been, living in a warm climate is like doubling your life, with a perpetual summer. You can basically go out and do whatever you want everyday of the year. In Buffalo (or any North East city) you're not going to have that freedom. Nevertheless, I'm thinking about moving back to Buffalo, but just go somewhere warm in the winter months.

@@DarkFoxV True! I live in Raleigh NC currently and it's 90+ degrees every single day from about mid-May until November. It doesn't even cool down at night so life without A/C is miserable. Take your pick, extreme heat you can't get away from or extreme cold that is remedied by wearing warm layers? I'll pick a cold winter plus I love snow. It only snowed twice last winter in Raleigh and it was 75 degrees the next day on both occasions and melted all the snow instantly.

I was in Mexico for a few weeks recently and 4 different couples from Canada and from Oregon..... made specific mention to us about how they have heard about these aspects of Buffalo and also how Buffalo is the new "Carolina's" of this decade. In the 80's - all college grads and younger gens rushed down to Charlotte, Greenville, etc... to find fame and fortune. Now, all thier kids are heading back here. We are growing so fast that we need a city wide planning committee on how to deal with the population explosion on it's way. This is a great video and I am so proud of this city and it's resilience, committment, generosity and overwall devotion to sustainability and being a Green Leader. You go!

I am an Englishman brought up in St. Catharines, Ontario just across the border from Buffalo. I have now lived in Australia for some 40 years. However, as a boy I was drawn to Buffalo sports teams and the beautiful city she is. I remember Bob McAdoo leading the Buffalo Braves, O J Simpson scoring long range touchdowns for the Bills and the great Gilbert Perreault performing poetry on ice every night for the Sabres. A true small and historic city steeped in America's history. As an Englishman, I will always believe we (Brits/Canadians) won the war of 1812 but the spirit that is entrenched in people from Buffalo and the greater Niagara region is 2nd to none in this wide world. Keep the faith, the Bills and Sabres will triumph soon and perhaps the Braves will be reborn.

Interesting video. It makes me want to take a closer look at the city the next time I am in the area. I grew up in West central NY and for me the world was pretty much Rochester to Syracuse and the beauty of the Finger Lakes. Aside from an occasional trip to Niagara Falls, I never found much to catch my interest in Buffalo with the rank air from the steel mills of my youth, some dangerous neighborhoods, and the concrete girdle of the interstates which a passing motorist sees. It looks like things are moving in the right direction and it makes me want to explore the hidden charms that I may have overlooked.

As a native Buffalonian who left at eighteen never to return, I found this film inspriational. I visited the city for the first time in 15 years and was given a tour by a gentlemen who really knew what was happening there. Even on a rainy day in August no one could deny the progress being made to reinvent Buffalo. I also delved into its history via a sunny(!) Sunday tour of Forest Lawn Cemetery, which brought to life all the early movers and shakers that built the place. I came away a believer.

This was so inspiring and the enthusiasm and love for their city just radiates from these civic leaders and citizens. Buffalo looks beautiful, I knew about the architecture but I had no idea of its radial-style planning and how much Olmstead contributed. In Toronto, we too drank the Kool-Aid of Mr Moses, though luckily we had Jane Jacobs to lead a successful fight against one freeway. But we stuck a monstrosity of a Expressway, the Gardiner, now a crumbling wreck and always an eyesore, right in front of beautiful Lake Ontario. Congratulations on the work you've done and it goes to show when the real owners of a city, its citizens, band together, you can make your city liveable again. I can't wait to visit! ❤

Buffalo has the best architecture in the world. Please take time to visit downtown's Ellicott Square Bldg, The Guaranty Bldg, Dunn Bldg, Cathedral Park with the Church, City Hall - up to the 38th floor observatory deck and the original brass, marble, copper, Indian drawings in the lobby. Amazing. I didn't even see all of the buildings yet. When you go inside you won't believe the craftsmanship involved in every square inch of City Hall. Please visit Our Lady Of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna. The Italian marble is something else. Wait until you see all of the stained-glass windows, especially the round ones behind the alter and around the Dome inside. Treat yourself to these wonders of Buffalo, NY. You'll never forget it.

I moved here in 2006 with my wife, a Sloan native. I have lived in New Orleans, Houston, near Memphis and Atlanta, but I have never found a place I really loved like I have come to love Buffalo and WNY. There is a perfect blend of city and small-town which I am utterly convinced is achieved by the amazing people who live here. I was totally un-surprised to learn that one of the city's many nicknames is "The City of Good Neighbors". I'm originally from rural Mississippi and grew up being truly concerned about the "folks down the road". This is the first place I have lived since where that concern is a natural part of the collective thought. Lots of places claim it, none back it up. Not enough space here to list all the reasons I love it here! Go Buffalo!!!

TreborHG9 As with all urban areas there are places that are wise to avoid. I'm sure NYC has plenty of places you'd rather not go. Buffalo is an old city and there are lots of old houses and buildings.Almost all the neighborhoods I've visited are well-kept, well-maintained and neighbors look out for each other. The area around Buff State is Elmwood Ave, one of the places mentioned in the video. The history and art museums are literally right across the street. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, IMO. Buffalo is a much slower pace from what I've experienced in my visits to Manhattan. But that's deceptive. EVERYwhere I've lived has a much slower pace than Manhattan! I'd recommend taking a trip over here and spend a couple days looking around. Experience Buffalo for yourself!

TreborHG9 there are multiple ghettos in Buffalo, in the East and West. also the South and the suburbs to the immediate east and northwest are declining working class areas. Buff State campus is in a good Buffalo neighborhood, near Elmwood Avenue. Overall the elmwood, allentown, downtown, and North Buffalo areas are generally safe. there is a huge college community in the area also.
