I really like your videos. I, too, have an affinity for these six-guns and their grips. Performing in gunfight/stunt shows tends to get rough on the grips, and mine's been through a few pairs. Glad you are putting this info out there!

Yes, they do. They used to use Rugers, which tend to handle drops in the sand better.

this really helps give me an idea of what to do for fitting grips. I've been thinking about making scrimshaw grips for a couple of Cimarron Frontiers

So if you buy the two piece grips you just place both sides on and screw to tighten, correct? I’m looking at the Arizona grips on eBay. Not wanting to get into the whole epoxy and one piece. Thanks

Thanks for the video buddy. Just got a pair of aged Ivory from Buffalo Brothers to fit my Colt SAA blued with 7 1/2" barrel.

How do you know if the grip from buffalo brothers grips are one piece or two piece?
@82c102 жыл бұрын
They come as 1 piece with an insert for in-between. Or you can drill them out and put in the estechon they send with. It's either or as they require fitting.

Very good video, excellent work on your part! The molded grips you made look awesome, nice job!
@cal30m17 жыл бұрын
You may want to use brass screws and nuts to fasten the grips on. They don’t rust and they tarnish to a nice old school patina.

Great video. I have a uberti el patron. Will these fit? And also how’s the fit to the top where grip meets gun
@bobsradio60253 жыл бұрын
I actually prefer true one piece grips that are available from Dixie Gun Works. The trigger guard and back strap of the 1873 SAA is the same as the 1851 Navy and the 1861 Navy. The 1860 Army has a longer grip and is a great modification for those that have larger hands. The beauty of these grips is that they are actually one piece with nothing glued together. The backstrap has to be separated from the trigger guard to get it in, then it can be marked and filed to fit. Personally, I prefer walnut to the plastic look.

I have the same outfit. It would have been helpful to actually see you "sand" it, mark it, put the one-piece grip on the revolver. Rather than jumping around. Like you mentioned spending $75 for BB grips you don't want to make a mistake. If you ever go through the whole process of marking, beveling, sanding, and finally "fitting" it I'd love to see it. Thanks.

I was searching for grip fitting tips and came across this video. The grips Im fitting on an old JP Sauer SA, are Hogue "Ivory Polymer" Surprisingly the instructions from Hogue has no info on what to do with Ivory Polymer, just info for wood. Got any Sanding and polishing Ivory polymer tips? or what not to do?

Polishing wise take it down from 220 320 400 600 maybe even finer then polish with either flitz or car wax will work.

@MyS10Rocks5 жыл бұрын
They sell the kits at www.buffalobrothers.net The kit comes with the 2 grip panels and the block that you epoxie them together with. Just make sure you buy the correct set, left or right hand!
