I came here because there's this sports radio show in Pittsburgh that plays the part "Talking proud, talking proud" whenever one of the hosts says the word Buffalo. Now I know what he's talking about. LOL

Ever since Joe Starkey got paired with Ron Cook they quit playing it because Ron Cook doesn't like it, to put it somewhat mildly.

Fabulous spot! I think there were others too. My college roommate and I (in Toronto, watching Buffalo TV) referred to her as "the girl who walks backwards". We meant "*leans*" backwards, i guess, but you get the idea.

Isn’t it weird how just recently….Buffalo has been turning into a small San Francisco. There are bums everywhere now. What happened recently? It’s starting to look like every other Democrat city. You have crowds of people blocking the street so you can’t even drive! Illegal dirt bikes and atvs everywhere!!!!!!!

I don't know what universe you're living in, but Buffalo is much better today than it was in 1980. I lived inthere in 1980 and I still live there. Downtown was rough in 1980.... you'd get mugged on Chippewa... the waterfront was just empty lots and industrial wasteland.... sheesh!

I enjoyed seeing it thanks for posting it. I turned 10 in 1980 I kind of remember commercials like this. The commercials that got Sean to me were the “I love New York “commercials. I live about 5 1/2 hours south of Buffalo in Rockland County New York.

And all except Rich Products are gone! Downtown is filled with Alcoholics, Drug Attics, Street Hustlers and Homeless people who are homeless by choice, not job downsizing, business shut down, or a pandemic. There is nothing to be proud about Buffalo, I was born and raised here and it's only getting worse. The Mayor Jimmy Griffin, who was mayor (don't see him in this commercial) at the time this commercial aired, was a racist! He fought with everyone. Type in Jimmy Griffin and the talk show AM Buffalo. He only took care of South Buffalo, his own Irish neighborhood. If you were Black, and lived on the East side, you were not proud.

In the era of 1973, the area around Chippawa was terrible and there was an effort made to counter the bad impression so the Talking Proud promos were created by Comstock Advertising/Heally Schutte & Comstock as public service media campaigns. They ran for quite a few years.

All the positive comments are coming from white people who Jimmy took care of!

Elmwood and hertel are looking wonderful and full of local buissness though, the waterfront is nice and people are taking notice. People are flocking to these neighborhoods and even the west side is slowly polishing up a bit. I see buffalo finally getting back on its feet in the next decade....and i would kick a baby seal in the face if i thought it would get me out of this miserable shitdump of a city tbh
