We get snow but it's not terrible, often times 2-4ft but it we rarely get 6ft dumped overnight anymore. We get the bone chilling cold -40s and -50s.

Man Im eastern european (bulgarian) and although Ive never visited the US, Buffalo has been my favourite NFL team. LOVED how the team fared last year. The pictures circling around with the amount of snow especially on the stadium blew me away. Even though we've had snowy winters here Ive never seen anything like this. They say its due to the lake effect but man... Stay safe! Whatever the case snow means wellness so I hope we'll get snowy winter here as well!

Its the finger lakes /western ny region. I am from about 2 hours away. There is a ton of natural lakes in Upstate NY that cause this lake effect. It is real but it is normal for people in this area.

those small lakes might cause some lake effect precip, but lake erie caused this, and any other big snow dumps. the long fetch of lake erie is needed to create the giant convective snowstorms, smaller lakes just arent big enough@@amurray2222
