Well done! Going to the gym and giving your best at training feels like a great catalyst for changes in all other areas of your life. When you put that much effort into your workouts it feels like it would go to waste if you eat poorly, not get enough sleep, smoke or drink. The workouts become an solid anchor in your schedule to plan everything around and then the rest falls into place. The results become evident and you learn to find satisfaction in that. Starting a workout regime is great advice for anyone wondering what the first step to getting their life back on track should be.

Such as front squats for 7 sets of 3 then would row for 10k meters. Among other workouts and body parts of course. Worked really well for me. @radilev19965 жыл бұрын
Both work, but imo the main factor still for growth is getting stronger over time. No matter what program a lifter uses, if he benches 135 he stays small. Progress is what makes you grow. Obviously you don't have to bench 405 for reps, but you do have to get stronger in some way. For some it's the amount of weight, for others the low rest periods, for others the time under tention they perform a given excercise etc. If we always do the same, body doesn't have to adapt to anything and it stays the same.

I train the way that I combine both approaches to training, so I combine high volume (strength) training with low volume (hypertrophy) training. And it's something that I enjoy the most, so far.
@synitarthrax56185 жыл бұрын
Try 20 reps. I'm 63 and this is working outstanding for me. Pick a weight you can do 20 reps with. Since we want to make sure our tendons and ligaments are not falling behind our muscles, do this for 3 workouts. Then up the resistance. Now you may find you can't do 20 reps in one set so on your way to 20 total reps. It may take a few sets. Take a one minute rest between those sets. Imagine you are going for 20 reps and you went heavy after three successful workouts so all you can do is 6 reps. After a minute you can do 6 again. After a minute you can now only do 4. After a minute you can only do 3. After a minute rest finish your 20 reps with 1. Work this resistance until you can get all 20 reps in one set. By this time you have worked through all phases ... strength, hypertrophy and endurance. You have mastered the resistance you're using so time to up the resistance. You "may" not advance as fast as constantly hammering yourself but over the long term you will be better off with fewer injuries and muscles that can do it all.

So do a mixture of both
@shapeloomis99755 жыл бұрын
You could set up a hybrid program and do a mixture. Monday-(Chest and Back)a1-Rows a2-Bench-Low Volume...4 x 4 reps. b1-Pull Ups b2-Decline Bench-High(3x10) c1-Shrugs c3 Cable Cross Overs-(5x5) all in the same workout. Alternate your intensity throughout the week. If your main move is heavy one day...make your main mover light on the next day. Example from above...lets say I did Chest and Back on Monday...Tuesday I would begin on squats with light focus for hypertrophy on the first exercise. I cycle the exercises with Heavy-Light-Medim each day and weekly in that order. It's not too taxing on your joints and it builds strength and hypertrophy. I usually only workout four days a week doing this though. Monday-Chest/Back, Tuesday-Squat, Thursday-Shoulders/Arms, Friday-Deadlifts. I LOVE DEADLIFTS...and save them for Friday before the weekend to have two days of recover and it's just a way to totally hammer your body one last time at the end of the week. It's a fun set up!
@boneTHUGS1115 жыл бұрын
thats either in your head or youve cut some exercises out? if youre gaining strength then youre getting bigger there's nothing special about high volume training, so im guessing youve cut exercises out? @@boneTHUGS111 This man speaks the truth. Low volume extremely high frequency is the best way to gain. You can get fucking strong doing this. Eventually if you bench press 100 kg (225 lbs) for 20 reps (this is your only working set!) then that will translate into a high 1rm.

Always been a fan of the strength world 🏋. At 5'9" its hard to compete with the big boys, but I manage to stay buff💪💪

Couldn't have come at a better time, just started a low/high volume split

What's that like? Do you do both types in the same week, or even in the same workout session?
@DF.NickFury5 жыл бұрын
@@gigantisaurusrex6647 Specifically I do High Volume lower body work on Monday, High Volume Upper body work on Tuesday, Cardio on Wednesday, then I do my low volume intense work with some super sets thursday lower body, friday upper body with extra emphasis on arms just so I dont over work my shoulders and injure them, then I use the weekend for cardio and rest.

@@DF.NickFury Gotcha! So much of this new to me. Do you feel like you're getting the benefits of both, or is it too soon to tell?
