Well done! Going to the gym and giving your best at training feels like a great catalyst for changes in all other areas of your life. When you put that much effort into your workouts it feels like it would go to waste if you eat poorly, not get enough sleep, smoke or drink. The workouts become an solid anchor in your schedule to plan everything around and then the rest falls into place. The results become evident and you learn to find satisfaction in that. Starting a workout regime is great advice for anyone wondering what the first step to getting their life back on track should be.

Many years ago I focused on a ton of mobility and did all my strength/compound work at low rep/high weight but then later on in the workout did high volume/cardio. Such as front squats for 7 sets of 3 then would row for 10k meters. Among other workouts and body parts of course. Worked really well for me. I became quite strong and my athleticism was better than ever. Once I wanted to be "huge and strongman strong", my mindset changed and I feel it wasn't for the better.

Both work, but imo the main factor still for growth is getting stronger over time. No matter what program a lifter uses, if he benches 135 he stays small. Progress is what makes you grow. Obviously you don't have to bench 405 for reps, but you do have to get stronger in some way. For some it's the amount of weight, for others the low rest periods, for others the time under tention they perform a given excercise etc. If we always do the same, body doesn't have to adapt to anything and it stays the same.

Try 20 reps. I'm 63 and this is working outstanding for me. Pick a weight you can do 20 reps with. Since we want to make sure our tendons and ligaments are not falling behind our muscles, do this for 3 workouts. Then up the resistance. Now you may find you can't do 20 reps in one set so on your way to 20 total reps. It may take a few sets. Take a one minute rest between those sets. Imagine you are going for 20 reps and you went heavy after three successful workouts so all you can do is 6 reps. After a minute you can do 6 again. After a minute you can now only do 4. After a minute you can only do 3. After a minute rest finish your 20 reps with 1. Work this resistance until you can get all 20 reps in one set. By this time you have worked through all phases ... strength, hypertrophy and endurance. You have mastered the resistance you're using so time to up the resistance. You "may" not advance as fast as constantly hammering yourself but over the long term you will be better off with fewer injuries and muscles that can do it all.

thats gonna be completely based off genetics, your bone structure, body type, etc.

My skinny friend joined as a container vessel seaman and his ankles and wrists bulked considerably including his fingers, which have no muscle but ligaments. Why? Everyday 12 hours straight, they lift, load and twist industrial strength rope, loaded buckets, wheel valves, etc TL;DR Yes. Weighted walking.

Unfortunately I don't think you can since that's just your bone structure, which is genetic. Training your tibialis anterior however, could improve the appearance of your shin area

Calling genetics is not entirely true.Just as muscles , bones thickens if under stress. So as you gain weight or do weighted walking your bones will get thicker.

My philosophy - why limit to one or the other? LOL My squat workout the other day : 3x5 normal tempo 3x8 pause squats (2 sec hold) 2x10 speed squats ** Then I hit 8 hill sprints after at 15% incline/10.5mph. Overall it was brutal. But..mixing weight and rep ranges for high volume sets has been giving me awesome gains in strength and hypertrophy!

Awesome video. I really like the ideas of these "vs" videos. This one makes me wonder what the BUFF DUDES think of GVT (German Volume Training). The closing remarks are, without a doubt, the best gym advice anyone, especially a beginner, can get. Very well said! YATS FFUB. Thanks for the hard work. Have a great evening.

No V.S. do both. I like two low volume weeks followed by a high volume week. Build that strength up and then build that muscle and repeat.

Greetings, Buff Lords. I haveth a question about working out using programs from mr. Arnold Schwarznegger and mr. Franco Colombo. Considering that russian fitness bloggers talk alot about natural bodybuilding and "classic bodybuilding" (one, using anabolic steroids). How hard are these programs for natural bodybuilders or, if i may ask, any of this programs is created for "classical bodybuilding"?

I like the combo of both. start with main lift for that dayx3 moderate to heavy, then follow up with the assistance exercises after for volume and hypertrophy.

So do a mixture of both
@shapeloomis9975
@shapeloomis9975 5 жыл бұрын
You could set up a hybrid program and do a mixture. Monday-(Chest and Back)a1-Rows a2-Bench-Low Volume...4 x 4 reps. b1-Pull Ups b2-Decline Bench-High(3x10) c1-Shrugs c3 Cable Cross Overs-(5x5) all in the same workout. Alternate your intensity throughout the week. If your main move is heavy one day...make your main mover light on the next day. Example from above...lets say I did Chest and Back on Monday...Tuesday I would begin on squats with light focus for hypertrophy on the first exercise. I cycle the exercises with Heavy-Light-Medim each day and weekly in that order. It's not too taxing on your joints and it builds strength and hypertrophy. I usually only workout four days a week doing this though. Monday-Chest/Back, Tuesday-Squat, Thursday-Shoulders/Arms, Friday-Deadlifts. I LOVE DEADLIFTS...and save them for Friday before the weekend to have two days of recover and it's just a way to totally hammer your body one last time at the end of the week. It's a fun set up!

thats either in your head or youve cut some exercises out? if youre gaining strength then youre getting bigger there's nothing special about high volume training, so im guessing youve cut exercises out? What i do is low volume high frequency, but different exercises each time that way i can still do all exercises. like everyday is back day for me pretty much, but its a different exercise each time. i make crazy progress like this

Do both
@AndresAstora
@AndresAstora 5 жыл бұрын
@@boneTHUGS111 This man speaks the truth. Low volume extremely high frequency is the best way to gain. You can get fucking strong doing this. Eventually if you bench press 100 kg (225 lbs) for 20 reps (this is your only working set!) then that will translate into a high 1rm.
