like the description says, Tekken 4 technically was the first game with characters speaking multiple languages, but some may recall Tekken 4's infamous cutscene of Hwoarang speaking plain English and Jin replying in Engrish. After that, Tekken 5 said "screw the language barrier" and added the Mandarin and Korean voices, then TTT2 changed characters like Eddy, Lili, Leo, and Miguel, who previously spoke English, to speaking their native languages.

As a rule of thumb, if your game isn’t getting dubbed, you must translate the dialogue as accurately as possible if the scene is fully voiced. If you find an unvoiced text box, that’s when you can do some localizing.

I know it localization but wanna point it out. The feeling when heard this in thai same as what it translate in game, but if translate directly like what I mentioned and read in english it feel different then it should be. So they correct for localization this and other language I believe.

The rest read exactly like how it's written or translated and let it read to know how to say each word for more correctly. I hope this helps.

There are a couple or so characters who don't speak their respective language, and of course the Mishima's are the primary focus so I imagine there are a fair few Japanese speaking characters, so I wonder how that impacts things. 0:06 - I didn't realise Lili was from Monaco rather than France itself. Despite French being the official language of Monaco, Monégasque does exist as a language. 0:57 - Wait, Doctor Bosconovitch speaks Russian... but his robot daughter speaks Japanese? 1:23 - I hope one day we will get another Mexican fighter in Tekken... and they also speak in roars, despite having no relation to animals whatsoever.

The most spoken language in Monaco is French, All official documents of political and legal institutions are in French. Italian and English are also more spoken than Monegasque. Also Lily's father is probably not originally from Monaco, he probably moved there like most of the residents of Monaco.

Sadly, Monegasque just remains a language of culture rather than practicality. Yes, children schooled in Monaco probably learn it, but I doubt many take the opportunity to do tertiary education in Monegasque. Given Monaco's proximity to France, it's no surprise that French dominates while Monegasque remains "the elders' language," except with surprising governmental support for the language as opposed to France's approach to non-French languages.

Initially, the Tekken characters only spoke Japanese and English, since Tekken Tag Tournament 2 almost every character uses their respective national language. Exceptions for Xiayou, Lucky Chloe, Lars, and Alisa who still use Japanese language even though they are not Japanese.

The reason the subtitles are off is because the spoken lines are translated directly from Japanese into each language, while the written text is first translated from Japanese to English, then from English into every other language. Since Japanese is linguistically very different from Western languages, similar translations are very unlikely, thus the lines end up varying drastically from each other

Leo makes a big grammatical mistake in this exact line she says “Mein Vater und ich fühlen *sich* geehrt” but it should be “Mein Vater und ich fühlen *uns* geehrt”. It’s like saying ‘my father and I feels honored’ instead of ‘my father and I feel honored’. The subtitles are off like always. Terrible localization.
