At the end of the episode prior to this one Dawn overhears Buffy, Joyce and Giles talking about her and knows something is going on, she also tried to listen in on a Scooby gang meeting at the start of this episode to find out more. The most badass moment actually comes after this scene, when Buffy figures out that Glory made a mistake by coming to Buffy's house. Though she threatened the lives of Buffy's friends and family and can easily make good on those threats, Buffy still has more power over her because she knows where the key is. Glory, essentially a god, is being held prisoner (psychologically speaking) by a mere mortal because they know something so vital that the god herself dare not kill the mortal, for fear of losing their only means of access to that information. Glory may threaten Buffy and make grandiose speeches about how superior she is, but fact of the matter remains, so long as Buffy knows where the key is and Glory doesn't, Buffy is the one with the most power. And Buffy figured this out and explained this in a later scene, where she gives a pretty badass monologue about it.

True. Made all the more clear when you watch the episode where Glory realises Dawn is the key and goes after her. Buffy loses her edge, that power
@danielhicks48263 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats all true,but I mean shes a pretty weak little g god in the end, at best shes a fallen angel/hybrid offspring, which still have some divine powers and supreme strength of course very impressive great villian for the series, but God not even close...and clearly omnipotence was not one of her"godly" powers. Frankly I dont even think Glory here coulda taken on a Arc Angel even they can read minds I believe.Then again there might be an argument Glory here cant readm inds and isn't at full power because shes stuck in human form sorta like Iliyra on Angel so that could explain what I just said away to.
@corcor11223 жыл бұрын
@@danielhicks4826 it's stated that in her unbound form she was so strong that the combined might of her 2 fellow God's couldn't stop her, the best they could do was banish her, trapping her in a human form. While on earth she begins to merge with Ben, inheriting his humanly "pettiness". She tells this to Dawn in the episode before the ritual, the only reason any of the Scoobies remained alive is due to Ben's humanity holding her back, making her go for the hurt instead of the kill. I believe the watcher council also stated her powers were severely nerfed when cast out.

Actually Glory was the only villain who actually could kill her easily and indirectly caused her death, when Buffy became more powerful and skillet. Which makes Glory probably the most powerful villain of the story. I do not count Faith since she is Buffy's equal and is more anti hero character than a true villain. The Master killed her when she was a teenager, she was not that strong as she is here in front of Glory. Glory was the only one who was a far more superior (of course, she was a goddess for damn sake) than Buffy and Buffy kinda knew it all the time. When Buffy said "This is between you and me" and Glory replied "This is between me and my key" it shown pretty much that she could care less about Buffy if she was not the one who knew where the key is and that she doesnt consider her as some great enemy and have this sentiment for their fights and some rules, she does not give a damn, Buffy does not have bigger price in front of her than a bug. This is not personal for Glory, she showed pretty clearly she is able to wipe out everything and everyone what stays in her way to get what she wants. That's the thing about Glory, she doesnt care. She does not want to ruin Buffy's life for personal issues, she doesnt want revenge for something, she does not want anything than go home.

@@zachbraxton1997 I believe there are quite a few people who will strongly disagree with you on that. Dawn was necessary for the Gloria arc, and Tara was loved by a LOT of people. Her death was and still is shocking to me and many others. But then, I'm sure many didn't care for other characters. many didn't like Xander, Seth Green's character, Charisma Carpenter, or Drusila (My fave btw. Love her). To each their own.

@@Rkenton48 but the reason Tara was killed off was because she was unpopular. There was no problem with the actor or her contract, she just wasn't well liked because she was socially awkward, weird, and not very pretty. Looking back on what we know about disabilities today both Tara and Drusilla would qualify as being on the spectrum. I get that the fans who liked Tara REALLY liked her but she was removed for a reason. Same with Riley, he was removed for being unpopular as well and Dru was only invited back occasionally for the same reason. In my opinion the highschool seasons are the only ones that are somewhat good and the show took a hard downhill fall after that, but that's just me.

@@zachbraxton1997 not looking at the big picture. Tara wasn't just Willow's love interest, which seems to be the only real problem you have with her. Because of Tara, Willow was able to become a far more powerful witch, a power that almost destroyed the world when Tara had been killed. If Willow had never gone to that extreme, she never would've been able to help SAVE the world in the last episode by using the enchanted ax to empower every Slayer everywhere. Tara was a necessary character, her flaws made her human and endearing to many, and her death made the Scoobies' victory possible in the end. Now, socially awkward? EVERY member of the Scoobies was socially awkward in High School and beyond. Even Buffy at times. Rebound Riley was needed so Buffy could understand her attraction to the darkness. Even Spike saw that quality in her. Another necessary story arc and character. He wasn't meant to last. Only by accepting the darkness within her could Buffy truly become the heroine and shoulder her power. No true hero is EVER squeaky clean and flawless. After High School, they all HAD to grow up and grow as real persons. No one wants to see a bunch of kids taking on responsibilities, but they weren't kids anymore, yet not quite adults, but they all became adults by the last episode, even Faith and Andrew to an extent. Anya's death was tragic. Talk about socially awkward! But she was my favorite character from her inception and then becoming Xander's love interest. In conclusion: Every character, liked or not, was important to the end result of the story. Remove just one thread, and the First would've won.

oh yeah, Dru. Spike actually loved her, even making a deal with Buffy to get Dru out of harm's way. But Dru was also the one who broke Spike's heart and told him that he was in love with Buffy long before he could ever admit it to himself, and accept it. Without Dru, there wouldn't have been an ensouled hero hanging about to wield the amulet.

Buffy's facial expressions. Also, she has all of that superpowers and they was not noise and they had calm converstation, so she probably heard her steps. But how she knew it was a kid? The quick answer probably is - She is a goddess.

I liked the Glory plot line and it wouldn't have happened without Dawn obviously; but I feel the show went to hell when Dawn came along.

After this season I agree with you. I felt like they could have replaced her

Buff only needed a Troll's hammer.
@TheJayden39774 жыл бұрын
And Willows help, and the dagonsphere, and a wrecking ball, and was lucky because Glory was being held back mentally by Ben and was merging with him. Wasn’t just the hammer.
@yeetaway48413 жыл бұрын
The Hammer was only used to slow Glory down so she couldn't perform the ritual on Dawn on time.
@SF-wz5tz3 жыл бұрын
As they got closer to the time of the ritual, Glory was getting weaker because Ben was getting stronger. Then Willow performed the spell on her and the Dagon Sphere was hurting her a bit too. All that before the hammer came into play meant that the hammer was a help to Buffy in beating her down If she’d tried using the hammer earlier in the season, when Glory was at full strength, it wouldn’t have done much

Ya know, for a god, Glory's not very perceptive. Logic tells me she should be able to sense something about Dawn. The writers should've thought of that.
