Hi, my name is Elie Moses and I am a 22 Year-Old Law and Film student here in Sydney, Australia. I have decided to watch the entire 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer' TV SERIES for the FIRST TIME. Here is my reaction for Episode 1 of Season 2. Buffy was acting completely different in this one! I hope you enjoy.

Yes, good start to season 2! Not many shows would have gone this direction with Buffy taking the entire episode to deal with her death from last season. Buffy tries to push everyone away, but ultimately needs her friends to get through it, and they are there for he despite how she treated them.

A great opener from S2 Buffy obviously suffering from PTSD, and taking it all out on her friends. Interesting when Cordelia even tries to intervene referencing Buffy to Joan Collins as a type of 'Uber Bitch' because she knows that behaviour herself. All's well at the end and a bit of comic relief with The Anointed One ' I hate that girl' Another well written episode exploring psychological illness and how it can affect others. On re-watch you can notice so much more in each episode that was missed first time round. Good reaction again.

I would suggest you follow a reaction schedule your happy with. The last thing we want is for a reactor to feel pressured or become overworked so they can't enjoy the show. When you know a two-part episode is coming, try and watch both episodes together for full effect. There are some two-part episodes that are not apparent from the titles, so see if you can get some direction here from your mods.

I feel like this episode is kind of where the show shifts for me in the sense that it's not as episodic as season 1. They brought over themes and reactions to the end of the last season and spotlighted it really well. That scene with Buffy dancing at The Bronze is so uncomfortable but so well done. She knew exactly what to do in order to distance herself from Angel, Willow, and Xander all in one single move. Incredibly calculated on her part

Yeah this is the "PTSD" Episode and Buffy's friends did a nice job there at the end bringing her back around to "normal".

The band playing while Buffy molests Xander is Cibo Matto, and the song is called "Sugar Water". There is a music video for it here on KZbin and it's an interesting watch.

I think Buffy's ptsd and this episode are foreshadowed at the end of 1x12 and I think it's brilliant. There is a change to her tone and expression just before they all head off to the dance.

In the Playlist the episodes are out of order, Season 2 Episode 2 is before Season 2 Episode 1. Some others might be out of order too but I'm not sure.

The title is why I enjoy this episode. Make the main character have issues and then need to earn everything back while getting closure by destroying bones that should have been destroyed before she left on vacation to her dad's.

The first Harry Potter book and Buffy Season 1 came out in 1997. Both franchises can be analyzed using a popular story structure called the Hero’s Journey. It’s good for any chosen one type story. Star Wars also used the hero’s journey. There’s a book by Joseph Campbell that goes in depth on it.

Info about the actress who plays Jenny. She's actually a dancer and pretty good at it. In the 90s, she was one of the main dancers for Prince (I'm a big fan of P). I dunno if you remember a Prince song called Diamonds and Pearls? Well, Robia LaMorte (aka Jenny) was the dancer called Pearl in the music videos and on his Diamonds and Pearls tour. Look up the song "Gett Off". It's entertaining and you'll enjoy seeing Jenny in such a different "role". ☺️👍
