This is the first Spike failed since he turned to a Vampire. He should’ve won easily but failed causing Buffy to die. This however made Spike a better person. Spike changed or the good after this.

I absolutely was emotionally destroyed when I watched this episode. Spike and Willow's reactions are what broke me down to tears. Seeing how hurt each of them were, seeing the tears well up in Willow's eyes and seeing how tightly she had to grip Tara's shoulder to stop herself from falling and breaking down and seeing just the sheer amount of love that Spike had for her, he kept his word; he protected Dawn until the very end just the sheer amount of raw emotion that these actors managed to portray is astonishing and the end of this season has broken my emotions more than any other show has managed to do. Because I broke down sobbing when Joyce was dead, just the way that the actors realistically acted as though this had actually happened made it feel so much more real and made my heart hurt even worse when I saw how badly it broke all of them. And honestly while I am on the subject of Spike up until this point in the show he was never treated correctly and never given any kind of credit for things that he did for the group. See they used him when it was convenient but then turned around and was trashing on them when they felt the need. Spike is honestly in my top 3 favorite characters because of his sheer charisma and his determination no matter what anybody else threw at him whether it was Zander or Buffy trashing on him he never stopped helping him. The only one that never trashed on him was Willow. My top 3 favorites of this series are Spike, Giles, and Willow and they're all badass in their own ways don't get me wrong but the reason that I adore Spike is his charisma and his determination not to mention the actual heart that he has. The thing that I had thought about as well was that Buffy was constantly calling Spike a killer and a monster but yet she dated ANGEL?! Excuse me?? She dated Angel the man who was constantly playing tug of war to keep his soul and you're gonna call Spike a monster?? Angelus was alot more of a monster than Spike was by a long stretch

Back when i watched this first I was like HOW are they gonna bring her back but the writers are sooo clever. This was actually the start of the build up to dark willow as well. By having her bring buffy back from the dead they were leading up to her getting addicted to magic etc. Brillant. This scene is heartbreaking. I am not a buffy/spike romantic pairing fan but his reaction always gets me.

*spoiler* She was completly brought back, she is a human the only reason spike can hurt her with chip was because the chip could not tell her as human with magic changing some molecules basically really superficial stuff about her. She was however not meant to live again, which broke some agreement the first evil and the higher power had to keep their battle in check.

I was more of a Buffy and angel fan she said she killed angel she gave up every thing to be with him she even she loved 🥰him after what I saw what spike did to her in season 6 I said that it 😢 when angel said to Buffy he loved her ❤in season 2 I was like yes he admit it I even had a dream they did a reboot of Buffy the vampire slayer season 8 in that dream angel turned full human he was no longer a 0:04 vampire 🧛‍♂️ anymore all because he wanted to be with Buffy. I disagree. spike and Buffy's relationship was some of the best writing on TV. the romance, the comedy, and the dark path it began and ended on was all so well written. I wouldn't trade that away to leave here.

Buffy would have gone to season 10 or 11 but Sarah Michele Gellar wanted a break from acting after having done the show for 11 hours a day or more days 6 days a week, 9 months a year for 6 years when she made the decision not to renew her contract for more seasons! I wish she had just been written off for a season or two while she recharged but the network would not allow it and Sarah did not know how long she would need or even if she would ever come back to acting! I here a Buffy Reboot is in the works which would be cool, Rumour has it that Sarah Michele Gellar is interested in playing the mother this time and James Masters might take up the role as the Librarian and Slayer Tutor!

The show should have ended after this emotionally-draining season 5 finale because the last two seasons just didn't measure up. The last season especially only proved how her friends were a bunch of ungrateful turds when they turned against her and followed Faith. Not to mention all of these new slayers who were brought on to the show that didn't know a darn thing about the world yet had the nerve to criticize Buffy.

And then it would have been one of those shows that should have ended three or four seasons earlier. No show can go on forever and they ended when the show was still strong instead of dragging it out to the point it were people started losing interest. There’s only so much story that can be told. The show is literally called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They couldn’t have continued the show without Sarah, anything else would have had to be another spin off like Angel. As for the reboot, that is entirely dependent on whether or not Jose decides there’s more story to tell. And Sarah especially has stated she doesn’t want there to be a reboot because it simply won’t live up to fan expectations, not to mention the fact that none of the actors and actresses are getting any younger.
