I first saw a 23 year old Buffy at the 1964 Mariposa Festival at Male Leaf Stdium. The last time I saw her was about 5 years ago and, in her late sixties, she was still dancing and jumping off drum risers. Now, at 74, she looks much the same as she did the first time I saw her and she speaks with the same passion as she did in 1964.

I like Buffy, but it is intreresting to me that the people who are most financially well off are the ones that say money is not important. It is pretty much what motivates everyone and you don't know what it feels like when you don't have it.

I am so respectful of Buffy to be living in Hawaii yet not involving herself with the native Hawaiian cause which, as a native "Hawaiian" myself, find their theme to be one I am ashamed of, based on factually incorrect history, ingratitude, and what I believe is totally foreign and in fact opposite of the cause of indigenous and aboriginal American indians. Buffy Sainte Marie is a genius and inspiration to the world!

I'm an Indigenous Tahitian woman, and Hawaii has always been like our little sister islands, and I loved Buffy, I first heard her music when a Lakota friend of mine shared it with me. Auwe, I'm so heartbroken ever since Buffy's lies came out, I kept hoping it wasn't true, I kept searching for some other explanation. Her musical gifts are 100% real, I don't understand why she lied about who she is. 😢💔🤦🏾♀️

"Indigenous things, our survival values, our culture, our music, let alone our problems, which need to be fixed - it's all good! ... Sometimes it's a tragedy and we cry, but that's what tears are for, you know? They go away after a while." This kind of quote is a thread throughout her interviews, this kind of dismissive comment.

What would be really neat if classrooms and teachers taught children how to grow fruits and vegetables how to start a huge tree hundreds of trees with a teeny little seed they could have a lemon trees apricot trees how to start strawberries from those tiny little seeds things they didn't even teach us in school they should have shame on them!

"we educate each other all the time..." "...there are some great minds out in the streets...each unique..." I also love that Buffy says "Life is Precious, diverse and worth protecting". The Movement she mentioned "Idle No More" is new to more(to go discover). I'm glad that Marlon Brando and Muhammed Ali were helpful during earlier years. I didn't know Residential schools had electric (torture) chairs for indigenous children. I really love this woman & she's touring in Australia 2020. Many thanks.

Buffy is 6 years older than I and I was mistaken for her a couple of times. She is a true talent; educated, intelligent, skilled, kind, and so much more. Like Buffy, I lived in two worlds; my biological white family and outside of it where I was considered an American Indian. Why didn’t I look like my family? Like Buffy I became suspicious and considered that my mom had been unfaithful. My dad always thought that. Like Buffy, I considered that I might be adopted. It is disheartening to not be treated as well as one’s siblings because of darker skin and ethnic features.
