Alyson Hannigan was a big fan of the band Nerf Herder. After they cast her for the role of Willow, she recommended the band to the Joss, and that is how the song got picked. In one of the scenes, Willow's locker is open and she has a Nerf Herder sticker on the inside of her locker.

I've always wondered how they got the gig!! I used to go to coffee shops to see bands play and Nerf Herder was on a lot of the flyers- never saw them play, but as someone who grew up with Star Wars sheets, I def noticed and thought "cool bandname!!" So when I finally noticed them on the credits I was like "no way!!"😅 I was late to watching Buffy cuz I was expecting it to be more like the movie, and sometimes those kinds of changes put me off.🤷‍♀️. Maybe it's an ADHD quirk, idk. But my friends loved it so I didn't resist for long.😂

Note how Scoobies' chain of command is established. Buffy is the leader, Giles her number 2, that we know. When both are not there, Willow takes charge. If she also leaves, Xander manages whatever resources he has. The show is actually pretty consistent with that.

Buffy is leader, willow is number 2 for a variety of reasons as an asset , then Xander. Giles has more an advisory role after season 1. Buffy took authority but normally she is the weapon that the watchers wield , Buffy broke that system which is why she is called the renegade slayer and faith is the rogue . Kendra is the actual slayer prototype and faith when she is on the up and up . Not a spoiler due to the channel now being on season four . We all know what Willow is giving . The dynamics shift season 2b with the confidence Willow gets from Oz and Ms calendars influence .

I was at a comic con last week where I met James Marsters who plays spike and he’s still an absolute FOX! I also met Charisma Carpenter who plays Cordelia and I was shaking most to meet her cause he is still a 10/10 knock out and THE queen bee. 16:31 Very nice foreshadowing here. Giles downs that fratboy with one punch. There was a plan to have something likes this back in episode 3, "Witch". They would go to the science class, as they did in the aired episode, but the cabinet with the necessary ingredients would be locked. So, Giles would smash the glass with his fist, hinting that he is not just a bumbling librarian. They abandoned the plan, because it was too early in the series, and they didn't even know if they would be renewed.

Ethan Rayne is played by the late Robin Sachs, who was the villain in the movie _Galaxy Quest_ as well as the voice of Zaeed Massani in the _Mass Effect_ trilogy. He passed away in 2013.

You know, I think that at least part of Giles seeming incompetent is he's training/fighting Buffy, a trained superhuman with super-strength, crazy reflexes etc. etc. or tussling with vampires who also have super-strength etc. But if you put him against an actual regular human being he can really kick ass. It's less that Giles is incompetent as that he's out of his league a little with vampires or a slayer. He's very capable and I think that his 'overconfidence' is partly due to not thinking through that a Slayer is called that for a reason, and partly due to Buffy endlessly giving the impression of being a helpless normal Valley Girl, so he gets taken by surprise because he's not thinking about it that way. Also, as Ethan suggests, he may be partly handicapped by trying too hard to be 'regular dorky Giles' without any shades of 'Ripper' coming through.

Halloween was a good fun entertaining episode, but also containing some great reveals. Firstly anyone who thought Giles was this prim and proper bookworm Englishman better think again, yes he is of course this, but we are introduced to the interminable, yes interminable Ethan Rayne, and we first get to see Giles called 'Ripper'. Willow also has to come out of her sheepish ways and take control, we see her first outfit, and then revert to the ghost costume. Oz is gradually being introduced through his attraction to Willow. Buffy hams it up as the 'lady' from the past and it is great when she breaks free of the spell 'guess what Honey I'm home'. All in all you can see the episodes getting better and better as the Series progresses.

A lot of the music in Buffy and Angel is by real bands, particularly in the Bronze. Nerf Herder named themselves after the Star Wars dialog and do songs about SF movies and TV shows. They will eventually make an appearance in an episode.

I know that after buffy ended there was supposed to be a series centered on Giles and the bbc was supposed to help make it, of course it never happend but id still love a series with maybe a younger giles and have anthony stuart head as a narrator. there was also supposed to be a spike show. and theres a promo for a animated buffy the vampire slayer show here on youtube, it also never happend. i believe most of the cast was doing the voices. fun fact: anthony stuart head aka giles is the brother of the singer from the 80's hit "one night in bangkok", so hes also a real good singer.

The Buffy video games I believe for the Xbox. First one takes place as a season 2 episode I believe. Then the sequel is a post season 4 episode. They are decent games. Fun and gives you a good Buffy feel. I’d recommend playing them if you like games.

There's 2 Buffy games. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (XBOX) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds (PS2 and XBOX)! Both are great! I love Chaos Bleeds a lot because you get to play as other characters as well but it might get spoilery since they use Big Bads from later seasons from the show. (Just checked and there's also different BtVS games for GameBoy Advanced, GameBoy Color and Nintendo DS.)

Don't know about US, but at least in some countries driving a car with the steering wheel being on the other side is totally legal. Although it did cause some confusion when a traffic cop stops the car, gets the "driver" to step out, but then the car just takes off, because that "driver" is actually a passenger.

It might have been a little before your time but it was one of Sarah Michelle Gellars first shows and it’s like an early 90s soap opera for tween/teens. We were obsessed with it when I was younger and I just recently found out it’s on Tubi. Idk if it would work for your channel but you should at least check it out on your free time!

The Buffy video games are both great so would fully support streaming them BUT the 1st game is set around mid-season 3 and so is better done after season 3 to make certain to avoid any spoilers. The Second game (Chaos Bleeds) is technically set midway through season 5 (ish) but there are spoilers for Season 7 that I'd recommend playing after finishing the show. (or at least that's what I remember)

the one thing I do not envy for you is the wait...from episode to episode. The seeing it all for the first time...THAT I envy! Giles remains a favorite character for me...often underestimated, always feeling a little out of place as he tries to wrangle half wild teenagers into some sort of coherent force against evil, but also a character with a dark past of his own and a wild side he'd like to forget...(some of which will be revealed as the show goes on...but I refuse to spoiler anything that might be a fun discovery later.) The entire cast (and writing team) slowly become an ensemble level group of performers...in many way, this show pushed players to raise their bar for performance...and while Joss Whedon is justifiably out of favor for his bullying conduct toward some of the more vulnerable actors (worth noting: it shows a lot of cowardice that he didn't bully ALL of them...just the ones he was sure would tolerate it), it remains true that he built a 'great actors factory' on the set of Buffy, pushing people to make a seemingly silly TV show into a powerhouse of memorable moments. O, the journey you have ahead of you!!

Regarding Giles fighting with Buffy vs Ethan. Since the show is called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, much of what we see is from Buffy's perspective. With few exceptions, we see the other characters as Buffy sees them, not as they really are. Because Buffy sees him as more of the bumbling Librarian, then that is what we are shown. But when Buffy was under the spell, she wasn't really Buffy, so we finally got to see Giles as he really is. He is much more skilled a fighter than we typically see, because we typically see him as Buffy sees him. Of course it helps that he is hiding his badass dark side from Buffy too.

In Buffy Fanfiction, the Halloween episode is one of the biggest story launch points/tropes, enough that a few of the dedicated buffy fanfic sites have a category/name for fics based on it. It's YAHF (Yet Another Halloween Fic). In these stories our heroes end up in so many different costumes, from Buffy being a female Iron Man to her being Supergirl, or Xander becoming a Terminator, or Magento, and Willow becoming Scarlet Witch, etc, etc. In the end, most of the fics even have them keeping the skills or memories of their characters after halloween and using them in the fight for good. One of my favorite ones has Buffy still wearing the red dress and after Halloween she keeps randomly pulling a frying pan from nowhere to hit people with and people are like, huh, where do you keep getting those!? And she's all like, I have no idea. Later its revealed (when her hair grows super long) that she turned into Rapunzel.

OMG Plzzzz play the Buffy video games! They are both so fun. So, the first one is only for first Gen. Xbox, but is backwards compatible, so it plays on an Xbox 360 as well. I am not certain about other consoles later on. The same goes for the sequel game BTVS: Chaos Bleeds. The sequel game is on Xbox, PS2, and GameCube Consoles and is also compatible with the Xbox 360. Chaos Bleeds also has a multiplayer game option, but the campaign is only single player sadly. I still own them both and play them from time to time.

Remember that his first name is Rupert, so Ripper could be based on that. Where he learned to fight like that, who knows? Watchers are trained to train Slayers so some combat training must be involved. But where did Ethan come in? It's a mystery!

There are two Buffy video games on consoles that I know of; Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox, backwards compatible on the 360, not sure about Xbox 1), and Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds (Xbox, Gamecube, PS2). The first one you only play as Buffy, although there is a cheat to do story mode in coop. In Chaos Bleeds you play as multiple characters. I would absolutely watch you play them!
