BtVS & AtS tv series both end with Angel & Spike wanting to be with Buffy and with it being her choice whenever she's ready. Buffy was punished when she chose Angel in the s8 comics so ended up with Spike in s10-11. It's s12 now (the final one) and she's single. To get back with Angel someone is going to have to reassure her it is not selfish or betraying the world and sadly none of her friends have done that.

In the show she ends up with neither. In the comics, she has a big sex session with Angel across the universe, but things ended badly. Their relationship was strained for a while & other things hurt it more, but they work it out and are on good terms again. She officially gets back with Spike & they have a MUCH more stable relationship than they did in season 6. But Buffy still has feelings for Angel. By the series finale, she is with neither one, but it's left open that she could get back together with either. Especially since Angel decided to stay in Sunnydale for a while.

@@SilverWolf442 I think it is more likely for her to get back with Spike than with Angel. She told Spike she felt something in the last battle (Season 12). Angel was sad because Illirya stayed in that hell dimension and he wanted her back, so he decided to stay with Buffy, Spike, and all the Scoobies in San Francisco till they'd find a way to get Illyria back.

Many of my classmates, and I was born in 1990, dated older men in high school (2004-2008), they're now married to them and have kids. And there are plenty of vampire shows nowdays that promote the same thing. This was filmed 24 years ago, when standards were different. But these kinds of relationship do exist in real life, no matter how negative that is.
