Keep in mind - this is a quest you can do multiple times. And apparently, they don't think to screen the next pair of bandit "actors".

Because it's more of an arranged performance than TTYD battles. Aside from _literally just this moment,_ they think it's all a bunch of play-fighting between actors.

Yes. Just like when real-life people take your items and run away. Thankfully, nothing you can't just buy, cook or find out on the field.
