I was stuck in a huge traffic jam on Wednesday, 2 of them actually. While everyone was "nut to butt" with their vehicles, I found myself leaving 2 car lengths behind the vehicle in front of me and seeing the "outs" and constantly updating as we progressed. I was also scanning my mirrors and surroundings for people on foot in this urban setting.

The first 90 days will be really rough, plan for that first. Bug in is still the best option. If urban or suburban, if one doesn't leave early enough , stay home and fort up.

Hand signals are essential skills to share among a group. Night vision is invaluable. Booby traps allow secure positions. survival alone is near impossible. train with a friend or family member.

I don't see a situation where i bug out, i envision bugging out being like this Hop in the car hit the freeways & sit in a massive traffic jam. I'm gonna have to make due with & what i got.

One of the concerns I have living in a rural / remote area is that all these city people planning to "bug out" don't own land to bug out to. Maybe they all are planning to camp on public lands... which sounds like a cluster. I just hope to God they don't plan on trespassing on private property. I imagine that would lead to a different set of problems. I don't know a single farmer or homesteader in my remote area that would be agreeable to letting strangers from the city setting up camp on their land.
@thejdshipley
@thejdshipley 6 ай бұрын
The only realistic way of solving this problem is to live far away from populated areas. Even if you’re rural but the property is easily accessible, these rural residents will deal with the situation you allude to. It would only be a matter of time before someone’s homestead would be overrun.

Yep and yep Most that are planning to “bug out” probably haven’t thought it through that far. I know the paradise fire in California many took their rv’s and went camping in the desert

The first week or so chaos will reign! Food and security will disappear and people will turn on each other! The next month will test those who have been preparing! The bad survivors will start pillaging and taking from those who are prepared! Numbers will be the key to keeping your preps! Most importantly, protection!

Well said brother. I am not bugging out anywhere. Why? I have nowhere to go. I am bugging in and taking a stance at home. If I die, I die. I rather stay home with all my gear, water, food, guns, comms, etc. than trying to bug out with my wife and elderly father. I do carry a bail out bag in my vehicle, but that's only to get me home in case I am stuck at work and I need to get home by foot. I have about 6-7 months worth of supplies at home, so I am bugging in.

Im disabled with MS. What the best defense as far as barracdes and boobytraps but idk just how much you can expand on that, and anything else that might tip the scales in my favor. Obviously its gonna be centered around surveillance to see the threat coming and give me ample room to hide. Surveillance and hiding. Anything else you can think of or cover on your show would be of great service. Thank you

The EpiPen has been a point of frustration for me. I would love to keep a few on hand because my nephew has bad allergies but they require a prescription and expire fairly quickly.

Expired is b.s. it's a scam to sell more. I had to use a 4 year old expired epi pen after a hornet sting to the throat. That 4 year old expired epi saved my life, don't get fooled by expired, any epi pen is better than no epi pen. I keep every expired epi pen now.

Wondering what first steps to take when bugging in? How would that change depending on whether you live in an urban, suburban or rural areas?

Start filling every bathtub and container with water. If it's not crazy outside yet, go top off vehicles, and grab as much food/water from the store. Personally I made myself a "bug in" check list that I would go over at the first sign of having to bug in. Prepare/plan now so that theres less to worry about when SHTF. I also would recommend having a battle belt always ready to go. I have one that has my gun, two mags, and med kit on it. It sits inside my safe ready to go. When SHTF, that belt should be on you 24/7.

83% of americans live in high populated areas. Good luck when it hits the fan. If you do not have a inside connection that tells you before it pops off you are not going anywhere. I cant go anywhere during normal traffic. Most will have no choice but to bug in.
