Try the north end of the Gunnison black canyon river on the north end. There is a time when the Gunnison river is loaded with tuns of Carper Ants. Sight to see.

Does color and size matter?

We find it most successful to match the size and color of the naturals. A quick walk through the brush will produce some samples. Typically we find ants in the 16-22 range and in black, red and rust colors. Some rivers and lakes in Colorado have larger cinnamon ants that are 12-16 and a light brown color. Hope this helps!
