Instead of using the tool ring to select a net, it's actually faster (and available from right when you start) to just use left or right on the D-pad to switch between tools. It works even if you don't have anything in your hands, it'll just pull out whatever your most recently used tool was.

I think they mean that Celeste's days are random but set, so if she randomly showed up 12th May 2020, you can time travel back to 12th May 2020 and she will be there every time. But Flick isn't tied, so if he randomly showed up 13th May 2020, then if you time travel back to 13th May 2020 he may or may not be there the next time.

Yeah flick only shows up once every 2 weeks unfortunately, and I believe that goes for all npcs except for kk slider(who shows up every Saturday) and daisy mae(who shows up every Sunday morning)

Managed to earn 467pts, usually getting 10 to 15 bugs/run. Having flowers helps a ton, and i guess watering them aswell. I'm quite excited to get the prizes now ! :] I just wish i didn't have to hear the same dialogue from Flick everytime, it's like a wall of text to enter, a wall of text to count your points, more text to sell them and then it just starts again, it becomes old real quick.

Here's another tip if you don't want to keep buying a net! Customize your net every time before you start one of the contests. Customizing resets the tool's durability, making it last longer.

Even though you don't have bait, the bug-off is easier because catching bugs is both easier and faster, especially butterflies. You can get 10+ points in 3 minutes, no sweat. One more thing, you don't have to get 300 points in a single bug-off for the gold trophy. Points always carry over to the next bug-off tournament and are counted even if you spent some already. So you can do it little by little and eventually get it. This also means you'll only ever get each trophy once per human character! Have fun!

Theres two things you never mentioned. Firstly when you play in multiplayer the bug off is free. Secondly, most players wont keep the bugs they catch and flick will buy them as you need to empty your cage before the next round, so players will typically get more money than they spent if they played solo. The fact with the Points is wrong. I catched 16 bugs and only got 18 points. That means you get only 2 extra points when you reach 3 bugs. But honestly, I catched in every round up to 10 Bugs. It's not that hard as expectet.

“Flick” This event is so much fun I just happened to have a friend who was hosting a bug off for a day and it was so fun to catch tons of bugs and I even found some new bugs that I didn’t have in the museum yet (spoiler warning for prizes ) my favorite items are probably the wand, the actual cage that you can use to change because its something I can just kinda leave anywhere and soI can always change and the wallpaper because it looks really good.

I have a flower patch right next to the residents services and it is so huge it takes up four squares on the map grid . And I’m a pretty good bug catcher if I do say do my self.... my average is 13 every round (bugs 15 points) and my high score is 21 . Pro right here 😎

A couple things really bugged (lol) me. The time doesn't stop when you catch a bug and the game then tells you you have a bug and then dings it over to the bug cage. This wastes precious seconds imo. You can sell other bugs to Flick during the event but cannot get models. Not a big deal until you realize Flick hasn't spawned on the island all month because...bug off is coming. Lastly; after the event I continued to catch bugs and went to Flick to sell only to have him tell me the event was over and he would be back in July.
