I love the idea of a small BOB. You're more likely to actually have it when you need it. A couple of things I would add...1) a firearm with extra ammo. You dont have to go crazy, but having a gun for a bug out is a must. I would recommend something accurate enough to hunt with as well. 2) a stainless water bottle for purifying water, and holding it between water holes. 3) bandana. It weighs nothing and has multiple uses. 4) ferro rod and some cotton balls coated in petroleum jelly for a surefire

I have 4 kids that I take with me camping and hiking.Wipes are great when there is only u but I use a spray bottle. I just fill it up at a stream that looks clean and spray thier hands when they get dirty. That might help u too. I also Have a small can of sunflower seeds. They are very nutritious and hold off your appetite. Good luck. Great vid.

Great bag, awesome job. The only thing i would change is the main flashlight. Inexpensive flashlights are usually not very waterproof. Keeping it on the outside of your bag increases the risk of damaging it if you're caught in a rain.

Nice.. More important than a BOB is a well-supplied place to bug out to. BOB is a 72 hour bag. Hunting and fishing gear is not necessary in a BOB. No one starves to death in 72 hours. Lose the shovel; If you have to dig, you have your SRK. Lose a knife, multiple knives unnecessary weight. Thermometer? Keep the paracord lose the other. Lose these things to make room for a bivy sack or emergency blanket or something else to add warmth for sleeping and if the day is cold or cloths get wet.

That is a nice EDC bag you have there and have it filled with what you will need in case of an emergency while away from your home or job. I love that knife and I have one about that size which I keep with my bag. You do need to carry some snacks in your bag also so you can get by until you found a store to get better food to eat.

I have the same little pack that I attach to the back of my Maxpedition Vulture II pack. I use the smaller pack for first aid supplies, and smaller tools such as knife sharpener, gun cleaning kit, multi-tool, etc. Also keep supplies such as more/extra/back up paracord, compass, Water/Wind proof matches, lighter, flashlight, extra batteries, water purification tabs, ammo, and my rain poncho inside of it. Also keep my Kershaw Blur Tanto and even more paracord attached on the outside.

Nice kit. I would add a couple blood clotted packs, Safety pins, super glue for stitches. pen, small notepad, hand warmer packs the adhesive type, multi-tool, chewing gum, energy bar, dust mask, latex gloves, tin foil, some money, cash and a silent coin or two. 5 hour energy drink. (you may be huffing it out of town or home.) wet fire or cotton balls with Vaseline. Bug repellent and sun block depending on time of year.

I have this pack attached to my Maxpedition Vulture II pack. Inside of it I keep a small first aid kit, fire kit, gloves, 25 water purification tabs, flashlight, batteries, kershaw folder knife , Insect spray 40% DEET, hobo tool, multi-tool, 2 glowsticks, knife sharpner, paracord 550, whistle/compass/thermometer, camo rain poncho, thermal blanket, camo bandana, camo face paint/mirror, extra 9mm and 7.62x39mm ammo, and small bottle of gun oil. Main pack has food, shelter, water, and clothing.

its interesting to see the different bobs people are putting together, nice bag, seems like you could really add alot of cool stuff to your bag, like safety pins for example, but it seems that you really have to make your bob specifically for your climate zone and your plans, maps , water water water, food food food, can opener, well if you camp and you take your bags and try to use everything then you will really see whats essential and whats fluff, crazy glue is a must, etc. keep up the gwork

The two carabiners are Omega Pacific screw lock carabiners. they hold up to 31 KN (about 7000 pounds! the average climbing carabiner only holds about 23-24 KN) the cost range is usually 12-15 dollars. I believe that these are in fact some of the best most simple locking carabiners that you can get. (as i have some and use them extensively). They are also very versatile, as i have used them from anchors to rappeling to bellaying. All in all i think they are some of the best carabiners i own.

I agree its a good fanny pack survival kit. But a bob should have a minimum of 72 hour of food, Good water purifying system like sawyer point one or katadyn hiker or pro, not just tablets or iodine, change of clothes that are weather and season dependant for your area, toiletries and personal hygiene some sort of large shelter like hammock, tent or a bug out location like a cave etc. And if you take any pets with you you dont want to forget there needs as well. great video...thx for sharing!

I have a similar BOB/GHB pack. I took care of the problem of carrying water by attaching a couple 1 qt. canteens to the pack. I also have a lifestraw in the pack. I would also forget the fishing gear and add energy bars and other food items. Your BOB/GHB should be set up to get you to your destination as quickly as possible. You're not going to want to waste time fishung and hunting. I do carry a firearm in my EDC but only for defensive purposes.

Put in a metal cup and something durable enough to carry water with (ziplock bags, nalgene bottle, canteen, your choice.) Add something to eat like nut roll candy bars. I would probably opt to put the shovel in a bigger kit. Nice little kit though.

I have some experience with ziplock bags, if it is a item you are sure you wont be using frequently, say photocopy of ID/passport, or a secondary 1st aid kit, try to use a second ziplock bag opossite to the first (rigth to left then the 2nd left to right) and also stuff say 2-4 extra Z-bags inside this package; also if you need it airtight you can use some liquid silicone glue or liquid nails on the zip and that will do the job...

Hi, this is one cool bag. I think you could add in it a map, bigger patches and gauze, razor blades, a chain saw, extra wire and string, extra socks, fold-able water bottle/unlubed condom and a metal cup.

Unless I just missed it there doesn't seem to be any means of storing or carrying water. You might wanna add some Whirl Pak or Aqua-Pouches (they're cheap and very compact & durable). Also, modern medical info says those snake bite kits do more harm than good. Other than that it's a nice looking kit. I like that you include a very good knife and other cutting tools for redundancy.

For the people talking about "blood clot powder" I recommend never using quick clot. We ditched that out of our IFAK's years ago. There I are too many faults with it, the biggest being a surgeon is required to remove it. Also it can get into your blood stream and cause a lot of problems.

Its good to have a knife and a multi tool (I suggest Leatherman). And Snickers would melt quickly in you're bag or whatever you carry, so it would be best to have a energy bar such as a Cliff Bar or such.

nice pack! the only suggestions i would have are that i wouldnt carry that think rope if its not good for climbing. that kind of stuff is usually bulkier and weaker than 550 cord. i also used to have different types of firestarters, then i decided to just carry 5 bic lighters. 1 is ready to go, 4 i seal in duct tape to waterproof them until i need em, works great. i use that same crank style flashlight, but im gonna look into that shovel. i carry a military style one now

Big compass and whistle (a cell phone case for this?), tackle box lots of space. No rope, more para if you want more rope. Ditch your lights get 2 of same single AA size LCD lights, pack 4+ Duracell bats, small squeeze LCD light, 2-2016 bats. Esbit stove/fuel, military canteen w/nesting cup. Folded aluminum foil, 2 quart size zip bags, 2 kitchen trash bags. Energy bars & Ramen(3), .22, .380, or CC 9mm, xtra ammo. First aid, defense, shelter, fire (2 ways), water (2 ways), food in order. Nice bag. Just several remarks and my opinion. Don't take this as critics just advice. Several items that are not necessary, and will save some weight and space. Knife sharpener, you can use rocks, ceramics etc for sharpening. Thermometer, are you meteorologists or what ? You feel cold or not it's all what you need to know, and one compass is enough. Two carbines. I used for climbing just one to secure myself. On rest you can use knots etc, just learn them. What I mist there is longer bandage in first aid, or scarf. Take care.

I subscribed because of this video, great job! You have very good lighting and some solid ideas for this lightweight, scaled down kit. =) My suggestions, since you asked: Ditch the sharpener, pick up a small whetstone, it will last longer and give better results with training. Try to get a foodsaver, it beats ziplocks hands down and adds compression, saving room and making your items 100% waterproof and airtight. Water container -must have. Water purification or filtering. Great job!

Overall you had a good BOB but I think you could benefit from having a multi tool like a Swiss Army Knife or a Leatherman plier based multitool depending on your needs. Also you have 2 long-range weapons in your bag but no long range weapons. Depending on why you would need to bug out you may want to find a good long range weapon that's small enough to carry.

leatherman, one day of food and a bottle of water. this should be the core of every kit. like you said with the bic lighter why make it any harder on yourself. when your on the go trying to get away from something, the last thing you want to do is have to stop to go fishing.

nice kit! but... lose the folding knife replace with a quality mulitool like Leatherman, Gerber, SOG, or SwissArmy add food like snickers, payday, cliff bars and jerky get a few large trash can liners(30-55 gal.sized) used for covering your gear or slit the sides spread out for shelters a bandana or 2, and a roll of DUCT TAPE either wrapped on a card or cut and peel out the middle cardboard and squash flat, vasoline covered cottonballs make an easy firestarter now get out and practice, practice.

Snugpak response is the worst bit of a fanny pack i've ever used, broke it on first hike due to the fact i overpacked it a little(around 6pounds) woter bottle inside and hanged crampons on the belt, stitching between the belt and pouch is the weakest link unfortunatelly, however i got it replaced and now just making sure not to overpack it. Still good pack tho, but i prefer the maxpedition saber pack

1. dont get hurt. its a light pack, good job. 2. shelter. a single flimsy poncho. wont keep you warm, or very dry. no dry socks or extra clothes. 3. water. you're not carrying any.if you find some, what will you put it in? 4. rescue. like the whistle. 5. calories. you have none. where will you fish? all year round? you'll cook on? this is not a "wilderness survival kit," spending hours fishing is wasted time. 6. tools. looks good to me! folding knife - redundant. 7. first aid. i like. quikclot?

If you have never been in the dark woods, I can tell you that those crank lights are not worth the money. You will be lucky to see five feet in front of you. They do not have the power to pierce the darkness. I use an Enduro head light by Stream Light. The Stream Light has a lifetime warranty, water proof, and a poly lens. It has a white led and has a beam that goes 100ft, for under $20.00. Test your lights out in the woods, before you call them a good light, you will be glad you did!!
