Great set of vids! I wanted to tell you about some REALLY good beef jerky I tried a few weeks ago. I was traveling from Madison Wisconsin to Illinois, and I stopped at a gas station to get gas, use the head, and get a snack. I noticed PMR Beef Jerky. I got the teriyaki flavor, and found that it was VERY tender, it was tasty, and moist, (as moist as jerky can be). It was a fantastic product and I just wanted to let you know about it. Thanks again, for this set of vids! Long Live the Republic

@AnalyticalSurvival In the UK the sauce packs e.g. mayo, tom, mustard, bbq, sweet chili, normally have the date embosed under the plastic mini tub base or embosed near the opening end of the sachet. May need a magnify glass to see. Have found on average only last 2 - 3 months from issue with your fast food meal. In US there may be longer expiry regs?

Great videos. I love the fruit-flavored beef jerky, too! The Pork Fu can also be eaten without reconstituting as an ingredient in rice. It's how a lot of parents get their children to eat steamed white rice since it adds some flavor.

You can always keep some of the mayo packs from fast food resturaunts and add them to the tuna to taste....I always ask for extra when I eat out and store them for later use.

I believe the protein content of meat to be of minimal importance when Bugging Out. Because you will be on a short term 3-7 day excursion to a "safe" location (where other supplies are pre-positioned), your main concern isn't nutrition. Meat provides a very calorie dense option. Calories will be the critical short term consideration to keep energy levels high and to keep travel times to a minimum (thus reducing the danger of bugging out).

@foxvalley560400 thank you both guys. But cans aren't an option - I'm going lightweight here. So no tuna for me... :/

@AnalyticalSurvival 6 months for mayo before it starts breaking down, and losing taste...miricle whip types can go as long as 12 becasue of the higher acidic content....12 months for mayo, and I beleave 8 months for mustard. again, most of that is taste based....all of these have a high enough acid content that if un-opend, they stand little chance of bacteria forming. But they will start to seperate and break down from heat with time...so in a cool location they can last even longer.

Ok, here I come with a tricky question! I'm living in Germany and we don't have Tuna in Bags - what I would LOVE to have in my BOB! So I was wondering, what about opening a Tuna-Can and Vaccum seeling it? I would guess it cuts down the shelf life tremendously - but I'm not sure on that...Does anyone have an idea on this? Kind Regards from Berlin.

What a shame, fish (sardines) were an integral part of my kit. Protein, salt and fat...plus I just like them.

I might be a little off track here, but doesn't learning to fish make better sense? I mean I carry the large heavy duty freezer sandwich bags in all my gear. That way it can serve to water proof my gear. Store my fresh food I find or catch. I can use them to cook food in boiling water and store water in. Just some of the uses I come up with, the list gets pretty long. Then all I need is light weight but quality fishing pole, hooks, string and number one knives and I mean quality knives, not just one type. Then all I need is to carry the spices, coffee, and my never get caught without it, toilet paper! My thinking is I don't want to go near a grocery store even if there still open. I would think they would be guarded like a celebrity on performance day.

+Claude Rains I know your comment is from three years ago, but maybe someone else reads it or it may spark a new discussion. I agree that fishing is the best long term solution for bugging out, but the first three days you have other stuff to think about than calmly sitting at the edge of a river to catch and prepare your fish. You need quick, easy meals for that. Heck, if you're unlucky you won't catch a single fish and then you have nothing to fall back on. When fish is your only possibility for a meal, I'd get pretty frustrated when I wouldn't have an extra pouch of tuna with me.
