Interesting. 👍 We can’t think of a better place to bug than our back yard. 😂🤷‍♀️

You made a good choice! Off the beaten path is a bonus. Worst I fear is a forest fire.

I like the Alice too but the 64 pattern was what I given way back in ancient times so that's my "First Love" haha

I have several packs, on full Alice with frame and shelf and another with built-in frame, both setup for emergency purposes of 72 hrs. or longer. I also have a medium size sling bag set up for daily carry in my vehicle that would basally cover me for around five days food wise if I were not able to get home immediately for any unknown reason, this daily bag also covers a variety of other items used for basic survival. I think it's wise for every individual to have some form of emergency supplies that can be grabbed in a moment's notice or carried in your vehicle, especially if you're traveling in or to an unknown destination or if you find yourself in a natural disaster type of situation where basic necessities are not readily available.

Absolutely 762, must have a bag or something in case you have to "Get out of Town" fast, think how many people have had to run from summer wildfires up here! I carry a ruck in the vehicle with basics in it all the time. There's one at home with more gear as well. Just in case.

Oh yeah. My backpacking days are over, at least according to my knees. But I still dig watching vids about hiking gear. Thanks Mike! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸🇨🇦

I hike less often as well these days and when I do I take a much smaller day pack. I like these for the car because I can add a sleeping bag. The belt doesn't really get used at all.

thanks for sharing that stuff Mike. It brought back memories. What was your job in the military? I think I told you before, I served in Afghanistan side-by-side with Canadian troops. They were fierce warriors, and I have the upmost respect and admiration for them. I have no doubt that you were the same class of soldier that I served with, they were top notch and very professional.

You probably saw a few of these '64 pattern rucks, they were really the hot ticket for Afghanistan if guys could get one, by then they had been superseded at least twice I think. I'll share my story privately sometime. It's short but honorable & soul crushing at the same time. Mike.

Those packs look in good condition, i've always been a sucker for military gear, just never been a fan of external frames. Thanks for the video M! ATB

I'm upgrading these packs, I've been slowly working on it over the last few months, some minor changes, I plan on doing a video on the finished project. Have a great day! Mike.

There usually packed and ready to go but I never really use them, if that makes sense. I have other smaller packs/bags for hunting, hiking, fishing, etc.

Greetings from Finland! Good video. Some of that equipment is a year older than I am and they still work. I am sure that the same old civilian equipment would no longer be usable. I found your channel through Age's Adventure channel.

Good day KP, Welcome aboard! I love the old military gear, I've been fine tuning and testing my packs all winter, looking forward to spring soon. Mike.

@@HobbiesHobo Thank you. Surplus equipment has been found to be functional and durable and does not cost much. I myself have a USA molle 2 large backpack and an assault backpack. They work well and were not expensive. A large molle 2 backpack can even fit a winter sleeping bag inside, which is rare.

My question is, if you did need to bug out which one are you grabbing?
@HobbiesHobo
@HobbiesHobo Жыл бұрын
1 is in the car, so I always have it, 1 is at home with best equipment, 1 is there in case I need to equip someone else before I bug out. The belt is never going anywhere under normal circumstances.

It is my understanding that Alice frames & '64 frames were both designed to used the same bags etc. In Canada the '64 frame has always been very highly sought after. The Alice frame is smaller and works pretty well also, both are old designs.

You are absolutely correct on that Hopper! Not many external frame packs to be seen these days, they're just not in fashion much these days. I like these ones still. More of a sentimental attachment to them though. haha

Wildfires are the biggest risk up here. Last few years we came very close to being ordered to leave. I'm not one to argue with a forest fire! haha
