Ditch that Holley and go with a Qaudrajet carburetor. You will get better fuel mileage , and you won't flood out climbing a hill.
@CentralOregonSurvival7 жыл бұрын
I am going to get it all running with whats on it, I haven't had a new designed Holley yet, and test it out. If it give's me sh*t, it is gone and I will buy the Qaudrajet... I do love them, but this came with the Holley and it is I guess a newer designed 670... We will see bother, but I totally agree with you!!! Thanks for watching

Nice motor... I have an 89' chevy suburban 4x4 of course... Just blew a head gasket in the 350 and Im upgrading to a 383, I get it back in 1 week. I cant wait, Im a kid waiting for Christmas... Lol. Im a prepper and had a channel here on YT for 8yrs. I cancelled the channel 2 months ago and just opened this channel to do basic comms. with people. I live in Long Beach Ca. so I know its going to be a shitstorm trying to get out when it hits the fan... But, I have a plan. Good to see more people still getting ready. Love to see what your build brings. Side note: Just sold my 85' K5 Blazer to buy this Suburban, so i know your truck... I lived in the local mountains of So Cal for 5yrs and the K5 NEVER STOPPED!!! There was not one obstacle that it didnt conquer... love them... Peace. Big Steve

I am doing a video here real soon on how to get your HAM license in two weeks. It is the intro to my new series; Grid down, SHTF skills series. Thanks for watching my build, there is a pretty good following wanting to see it done. So, I guess I better start putting in some overtime!! LOL Yeah man, love the K-5 series and this bad girl is going to look mean. Can't wait to start ripping into the body and making it mine. Thanks for all your support Big Steve, stay frosty atb Todd

Wouldn't a bug out k5 be better if it had 6.2 running on veg oil? Compared to a 12 mpg 383
@CentralOregonSurvival3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!!!!! Yes…. Agreed… I built more of a smoking and the bandit rig, it was created to draw the attention away from the main convoy headed to my Bug out location… not for sustainable use. But I just recently purchased a M1079 Military vehicle… sticks out, but can go anywhere, and run on a lot of fuels.

Nice engine, but I would think a bug out vehicle would be diesel, so many fuel options when all the gas will be gone.

True, but in this is an aggressive patrol vehicle until the fuel is gone, by that time we are set in and awaiting foot traffic...

OK... #1, that's a beast of an engine! #2, are you going to bottom the tires out into your front fenders? That front meat looks huge on there. #3, spot-on closing statement. Well said.
@CentralOregonSurvival8 жыл бұрын
It is a beast!!!! LOL can't wait to fire it up!!! Yes, they are 37's on a four inch modified lift, I haven't worked the body yet. I am going to cut and re-weld the fenders, and cut the back out as well. Once I get the electrical in and engine, I am going to start on the body and get it awesome!! I am starting the top rack here soon, it is going to be sweet, have a 48 inch LED light bar in front, with two 22 inch LEDs under it, a 12 inch LED out each side, and two 8 inch out the rear. Plus I have a small generator, solar mobile charger, and much more!! And thank you, I will be doing a video on the closing statement as well. Thanks for watching my friend!!

When you going to put some tread tracks on that beast, then you can get out into the snow and sand without getting stuck ....

I wish!!! I don't have the cash for those, this really is a budget build... I know it doesn't look it, but I haven't spend as much as I could of... Well I didn't have it to spend anyway... Ha ha ha
@michaelteeple87045 жыл бұрын
Pretty cool but as far as reliability. 383 aint it. You can get the same power without running the pistons so deep in the bore that they bind. These tend to scuff pistons worse than standard stroke.

The tires are all wrong. Why? Because if you get a slash in one, how would you replace it? Would you be able to find another on that size (35's? 37's?). Also, they'd be harder to change in areas you don't know where more standard tire changers are available. A BOV should have tires that can be exchanged with either common truck tires sizes/wheels (i.e. 16.5, 15... wheel, 235/85R, 215/75R tires, etc...) that you come across in the field. A BOV should have parts that are easily replaceable in the field. A Chevy 350/305 is a great example of a motor with swappable parts from millions and millions of all types of vehicles (cars, trucks, vans, etc...). Batteries, alternators, water pumps, wires, plugs, for example. The only other engine I'd consider would be the Ford 300 Straight 6 which is known to run up to 400,000 miles without any major work, is easy to work on and super fuel efficient while producing the same torque as a Ford 5.0/302. More power, less fuel consumption, easy to work on, proven performer. I'm a Ford guy, but if I were building up a BOV, I'd use a Chevy anything (K5, pick-up, whatever). But I'd use tires that were easily replaceable especially that were compatible with common commercial truck tires that are bombproof and built for the long haul & durability. For a motor, I'd want something as OEM as possible too so that it won't present any performance issues like overheating, highly specific tuning & parts, the least amount of electronics, etc... All that being said, it looks like that Blazer is going to be totally wicked man. LOL I'm no hater. I used to run an '87 Ford F-250 on 44's with a worked Mustang GT 5.0 through a 5 speed running through Flowmasters with no/cats and on a 12" Superlift front & Custom Rear Mercedes re-arched truck springs suspension. Warn Bumpers, Lund Visor & Racerback, totally urban Monster Truck grade in Killer Black. JMHO. :)
@CentralOregonSurvival8 жыл бұрын
YES!!!!! Excellent comment!!! This is what I am talking about...!! Collective thought. Ok, lets cover tires first, I totally understand where you are coming from, having tires you can interchange with other vehicles. I have thought a lot about this very subject. I am running HUMMV 37" tires for axle clearance and offroading, that is the purpose of the vehicle. Now with that being said, I have a bunch of these tires and will be carrying two extra's on the vehicle. I also got ahold of the military split rims, and run flats in the tires. The military run flats can take a lot of damage, and still keep going. Hope to change them out when I get to the location. I can change them out on the fly with the split rims and on board air compressor. I also have tire plugs, side wall repair kit, and patches. This is the compromise I had to make for wanting a offroad BOV. Second, yes chevy parts are everywhere!!! And that is why I am using a chevy!!! The 383 internals are not replaceable, but all the parts on the outside are. Alternator, carburetor, water pump, power steering, and so on... It is basically a 350 on the outside. This engine really isn't considered high performance at 9:06 compression, and the Crank is balanced, but it is really easy to tune it out. Not a lot of maintenance on rollor rockers once adjusted. If I was going Ford the 300 is an excellent choice, that thing run's forever!!!! Old tractor motor... Great rig!!!! That is a monster you had, I bet it was a kick in the pants!! Thanks for the awesome comment!!! This is constructive, atb Todd
