Bug storm in Klamath Falls Oregon. On our way Northbound heading to Crater Lake National Park in the Summer of 2013. Definitely something you don't see in Southern California (not the right elevation or humidity for this kind of thing).

I drove through Klamath Falls in 2014 with some friends, this freaked us out at first. We thought Revelations was actually happening and the locusts were here hahaha. An experience I seriously won't forget.

Here in Klamath Falls right now, this is going on as I type this Sitting at a hotel bar and Everytime the doors open a cloud of little green bugs swarm into the building. It's pretty incredible. Thankfully they don't bite.

Dan Green We hear you loud and clear. On that trip, we had gone South to the Lava Beds and saw a fellow with his front license plate carpeted with the bugs. I had asked him if he had come through Klamath Falls. His response was, "Oh my God. I was so scared. I couldn't see but for the little bit of windshield next to the wipers. I was affraid to turn on the wipers and potentially make it worse." He clearly made the right move.

Midges do bite in Scotland, which is environmentally very similar to Oregon, they have midge forecast apps

I had to pull over and wash headlights off thankfully I had 4 gallons water in my truck. I don’t want to come by here again anytime. What time is best time.

I'm not sure the best time. We're not native to that area either. Extremely scary at night when your visibility goes to nil. I'll ask some of my friends who grew up in Klamath Falls and I'll get back to you. I suspect there isn't a time it isn't like that.

Apparently they breed in the summer months in 2-3 week cycles. They take a break in the fall and winter then start up again late March and early April.
