Geoff has my favorite winter shirt on. Even same flannel. Since I am refacing my kitchen cabinets. I will think of him often as I progress. Anyway, now, I can even look the part.😅 Fascinating to watch this progress. Jolene is doing a tremendous job filming. So often on restoration shows, the filming is less than stellar. It is the most interesting thing on KZbin. IMHO.

Geoff is is an incredible craftsman, this collaboration is going to create a true work of art, a REAL Bugatti. Let Geoff know I would watch his channel daily as well if he had one!
@andysmith21053 жыл бұрын
One of my earliest introductions to true craftsmanship was a Type 38 Bugatti. Seeing how detailed the car was, with safety wire everywhere, engine turned polishing, supercharger - was amazing. Later on, the same shop took on a Bugatti Royale restoration, and then you saw what true attention to detail and craftsmanship was - a car designed to impress people who were used to the finest luxury. It's nice to see true craftsmen put their skills on display.

Brilliant. Geoff's woodworking skills are something else. Chad is chilled out- I love that, Jolene's great camera work and infectious giggle- magical. The Jag engine? as long as those valves free up I reckon it will be fine after running for a bit. They will clean themselves up.

The mahogany wood window trim is going to look amazing. I was looking at some photos of Bugatti Atlantic interior and it looks like they used many fasteners at each corner/bend, two fasteners per corner/bend. A good look was they they used mahogany plugs so no fasteners were visible. A REALLY nice look. Cheers

I think I'd center it from the edge of the to board, to the outer most edge of the horizontal board, Both for aesthetics and ensuring you don't take to much of. The thing about you mock up dash is that you can set it like a jig. The hole in the fire wall might end up being oval shaped but you can cover that up with a dust boot. I like watching your vid's there informative & they remind me of my old shop. Good luck & keep on rock'n it. By the way I forgot to tell you I'm enrolled as a Mic Mac Indian. Yeh, I know; as if that matters with what you're doing. But there are so many stereo type's about ... well you now, I don't like to dwell on the bad. I like to try to live the Good life; Peace...

@SteveBueche10273 жыл бұрын
Suggestion; the reveal on the back windows appears bulky compared to the doors. Maybe thin them equal or close to the door reveal and leave a gap between them for upholstery. It would finish off the classic look.

I think the dash, instead of being straight across the bottom edge, should have shallow sweeping curves on the driver and passenger sides. This would give a little more legroom and match the sweeping curves of the rest of the car. Just my 2 cents worth. I think your doing agreat job and really enjoy watching.
@monadking27613 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you are going to tilt or use a telescoping column? It looks like the stearing wheel is big. I have an original wheel in my 55 chevy and realise it's not like my newer vehicle. Make sure when you turn the wheel does your elbow hit the side of the door because I have that problem sometimes driving my old car but, I'm 6'2". Try checking for clearance of you knuckles and clearance of your lap once sitting in the car. The attention is in the details and that car is coming along nicely.

A carved/contoured dash with an arched form above the column? Only a part of it would be fancy veneer on the flat parts? Can you picture it in your mind's eye? I was a woodcarver who had carved elaborate relief forms for sculptural furniture. I did it over twenty years ago. I gave it up to raise kids and make a living. I was working on an MFA in Fine Arts.

Good call rivet spacing but Kevin part right but stainless steel reacts with normal metal as well but Nova Scotia is an Atlantic province how much salt is used on roads and in the breeze off the ocean.
@jamesmcritchie83103 жыл бұрын
Ps take the doors with you when you go won’t be much to takethem off and then the cords won’t be fought with and protecting the hinges works too it shorten buildtime drastically then the wood actually fit right too then. With all those compound angles in different places flat wood don’t quite fit

I think chad was right with using magnets or velcro for the rear wood window mouldings. That way they are easy to remove. Please put all steal around the gas tank, incase the tank catches fire or blows up
@rogerfrancis653 жыл бұрын
You'll never get correct and even compression by cutting corners and not removing the head, all the calves need grinding in and the stems polishing to remove the carbon and new valve stem seal's, this will bit you on the ass later.
@brainpain49453 жыл бұрын
i agree with ya Roger, but this engine doesn't have heads . The valves have to be worked on from the bottom of the engine up. It's really a big ole pain in the dootie, too.

Or extend the upper hose inlet over the fan and flatten a little then round again
@brdnsky64173 жыл бұрын
Would it not be easier to soak that piece in water and get it pliable, then put it in the door and let it dry? You would get the shape that way. Why not do the screws like trim pieces on a car. Studs in the back only. Or you could cut pockets in the back and put magnets in it. The car is looking good.Ronnie.
