Hey James, this is Robert from Idaho and I was behind you in your last sun valley video (2019) when you filmed the bug going 253 mph before you ran off to do your 209 mph run and I was on the left of the finish clock tent in this video (again in a baseball hat) and all of us at the finish line thought you were well over 200 mph on your Bugatti run. We were all trying to come up with reasons why it registered low at 191. The prevailing theory was maybe the purple wrap had something to do with it. Either way it was awesome to meet you at the car show with my wife and son Branson and to see you safely run again this year. Hope to see you again next year and make it into another video

They only maintain the shapes trademark for toys and model cars now (and I believe they own the name now too '250 GTO'). Hence why 250 replicas have been seen and produced - including this one. I know what happened to the speed problem!!!! Stradman slowed down when he reach the other person's speed-omitor check because he was reaching the end of the course, so that means he really went 213 in the car, but the speed- omitor with the other person didn't see that because he slowed down and the Stradman didn't know that the track wasn't finished yet and that he still had more time to keep going. (He was stressed) He also should have showed them the Go Pro footage so they could review it.

Pretty sure top speed mode only works while going straight. The turn probably disengaged it for safety reasons.

Did some research and it says; "This mode must be enabled with the top speed key before driving. The steering is restricted, and the car is lowered even further." also "There are a few catches in the procedure that will make it hard to perform a top-speed run on public roads. Once the Veyron exceeds 35 mph, if you turn the steering wheel more than 90 degrees, or so much as touch the brakes, the car's configuration reverts to the handling mode." so that's that

i guess no because it was a minor turn and infact Bugatti's test track also has a bit of turn i guess so its some issue in the computer which might have detected some prob in the turbos and would gave disengaged it

Yeah it was definitely the turn.. i remember when they first came out one of the reviewers mentioned if the steering wheel is turned more than a certain amount it disengages to ensure grip through corners. Their home test circuit has a turn but its banked so very minimal wheel turning needed.

To everyone saying he let off before the radar, you can clearly see the tents to the left at 6:50 which is right before he announced his top speed on the in-car video. The clips from the radar tent, while occurring a bit later in the video, were obviously spliced in while editing and not in sync with the in-car video. If he's running slightly different size tires, or even possibly incorrect tire pressure, it would easily explain the difference from the speedometer versus radar. I'm betting the curve near the start caused top speed mode to disable. Either that or the squirrel shaved off some MPH..
