Is well know that in the movie The Godfather, the character Moe Greene is based on Bugsy Siegel, but what many people don’t know is that the name MOE GREENE is a combination of the names MOE Sedway and Gus GREENbaum who took over The Flamingo after Siegel’s assassination.

Actress Rosemary DeCamp lived in one of the damaged houses during Howard Hughes' plane crash on July 7, 1946. She and her husband, a Municipal Court Judge, were at home but not injured when a wing of the plane and part of the roof from another house struck their bedroom. Warren Beatty claimed that his cell phone either cut out or went staticky whenever he drove past Siegel's death house, during the making of "Bugsy." In the documentary, "Dark Star," Shirley Ballard claims that a couple of days after Siegel's murder, Frank Sinatra took her to the house and opened a bottle of champagne in the living room, with blood on the sofa and the shattered front window. They drank a glass of champagne and sat on the death sofa. There are many stories about that location that have been told and retold over the decades.

Frank did that? How gruesome.😱 As an aside, there was a time when "Old Blue Eyes" had an ongoing vicious quarrel with columnist Dorothy Kilgallen. He'd been warned not to get into a feud with someone who bought their ink by the barrel. But ... Frank's temper was well known. Anyway I've a recording live from a Las Vegas show with Frank, Dino and Sammy Davis Jr. Just before the show got going and during the introductions Frank says to the large audience, "Hey listen everybody. If you should run into Dorothy Kilgallen, be sure you're in a Buick." 😯 If he drank champagne in the very bloody room of Benjamin Siegel's assassination, did Frsnk dance the Tarantella when he heard of Kilgallen's death under mysterious circumstances?🤔 Well Frank's association with various mobsters is well known and documented. The same ones suspected of JFK's assassination and Dorothy Kilgallen interviewed Jack Ruby in the Dallas jail house and she said she knew and had proof of the JFK assassin. When she was found dead, the mysterious binder she claimed had her proof was missing. 🤔

Love these types of Hollywood History videos. As a child I was completely fascinated with underworld crime and wild west legends. In 5th grade ('67- '68) we had to complete a report on "An American I admire". I did mine on Billy the Kid and ended up having to see the school psychologist!!! I got an A but was still a suspect character after that. Luckily the next year I was in Middle School with all different teachers and a new school so my suspect personality was forgotten. Thank you for your videos! We are hunkering down because a hurricane is coming.

I stumbled upon your local history stories and have enjoyed them. I also enjoy genealogy. Today it occurred to me that you often visit, where I think my great great grandmother, Abigail Bailey. She was pretty obscure individual. I am sure she had a German accent because her parents came from Germany. She lived in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Iowa and Oklahoma. When her husband died in 1918 in small town Oklahoma she took a train to Hollywood California to visit her son, Benjamin Bailey. She must have enjoyed it because she lived another 10 years with him in California. For years she was a brickwall in my research, but I am starting to find more information on her parents and siblings. I hope someday to visit her in the future, but for now, I just giggle at the fact that this obscure little old German grandmother is buried alongside so many Hollywood elites and stars. Thank you for your stories.

Hello grimmers. Considering bugsy Siegel there is a at Southern California connection, that being a residence that him and his people occupied up in the lake Arrowhead California. Just off of the riddle of the world highway there are a set of bungalow apartments that one can now rent an occupy or leaves at the time these were owned by bugsy Siegel and his people the bungalows some being attached and some being unattached the ones that were attached have secret passages still in the walls that you can open to go from one bungalow to another in case someone had to escape quickly. The friend of mine lived in the bungalows for a while and showed me the escape route is all very interesting and stuff is still there.

Great video, thanks for sharing. The Howard Hughes stuff was an interesting surprise as well. The terracotta tiles on the roof of the house Hughes smashed into are also the same tiles in the house in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator in the plane crash sequence. I don't know how accurate the actual house was in the film, but I instantly recognised the tiles though.
