@Key Fob Rob I struggled for 10 minutes. Manual so unclear it said to put tool in hoke adjacent to key hole to pry apart the fob. I would have ended up breaking the fob with those instructions. Glad I got pissed off and you tubed it. Did it all in exactly the same time frame as your video. Truly, thank you!

Looks so easy and I remember doing this with another fob, but today I could not get the sides apart. It was a slightly used car when I bought it. Looks like someone glued it shut. Will it crack if I try even harder to separate the pieces?

Maybe it was just a coincidence for me, but after replacing the battery, I tested lock, unlocked and remote start. Remote start would not kick. So I entered my Buick, placed the key in the middle console, started normally. Killed engine. Then remote start was behaving correctly. Not sure if the battery had anything to do with it. Just an FYI

Funny thing is I popped it apart just as you instructed then put it back together. (Didn't know that key was in there) However, the battery had already stopped working (I was happy to see that key and able to get in my car) but started working again once I put the fob back together. I still ordered more batteries, but kind of thinking there is a conspiracy here. Lol

The only issue you will have is that battery is a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit smaller and won't last as long. Outside of that, you're good to go!

OK, this makes it look so simple. However, after I changed the battery in mine the car no longer recognizes the key fob. Opened the door with the emergency key and set off the car alarm. Came to You Tube to see if there was some kind of secret handshake that I was not aware of.... nope. Replaced the battery again just to be sure but no luck. I did confirm the battery was good with a volt meter, but alas, I am still unable to use the fob. Any ideas??

The battery is either in upside down or you have a cheap battery that might look fine on a voltage meter but I'd start by getting a fresh battery.

Well, I went to Batteries Plus and paid $10 for a pair of batteries. And viola! the key fob now works, which begs the question of what is the difference between the first battery and the one I just bought? Both had that same voltage reading. The only thing that comes to mind is perhaps the first one was physically smaller, just enough to not make good contact, or perhaps there is some film on the battery that created just enough resistance to not allow contact. Looking at the two side by side I cannot detect any meaningful difference. Now my OCD wants me to get a micrometer to accurately compare the physical size and... Well, I probably have better things to do than to go down that rabbit hole. 😅 Anyhow, thank you for your assistance.
