Many people seem to think this is overpriced. I don't think so. If you look at some competitors, the Envision is a bargain. However, for 50,000 grand, it would be nice to have real wood, and aluminum in the interior. And maybe LED headlights.

$49K for this fully equipped Buick. As much as I'd like to buy domestic (which this kinda is not), I don't see the value in this SUV as much as I see more a value in a Toyota Highlander or Nissan Pathfinder.

I'd almost agree. Except this is $10K less than the top premium models of all other "Luxury" brands. And has the refinement of a luxury brand. It kinda makes sense.

I asked another car reviewer about whether or not the Envision can be built in North America. The Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain are built in Ingersoll, Ontario. I'm not sure if there will be room in the plant. Also, not many parts are shared with the new-gen Equinox and Terrain. And like Steve said, it's been in the Chinese market for about 3 years before it came here. (He can correct that if I have been misinformed. ) Also, the Envision would be up for a redesign (something we can envision), just like the subcompact Encore has just recently. The Buick Regal was built in Germany before being assembled currently in Oshawa, Ontario (east of Toronto).
@stevehammes7 жыл бұрын
It's due for a refresh in 2018 because it went on sale in China in 2014. But I bet if production moves to NA it won't be until the next gen.

Main reason it's built in China is that Buick is actually one of the best (if not the best) selling brand in China. Go figure. At least the profits stay in the US.

Steve, the hottest trend in auto journalism today is for reviewers to stuff themselves into the cargo area or trunk to give the viewers a sense of the vehicle's commodiousness. Have you considered contorting at this level, or will you continue to keep your reviews classy?
@stevehammes7 жыл бұрын
Khu NoPie Today marks my 19th anniversary of reviewing cars. The only time I put myself in a trunk was on live TV in 1998 from floor of the NY Auto Show while I was interviewing a Ford exec. They were demonstrating the new glow in the dark inside trunk release handle to prevent entrapment. That is all.
