@@Butterfly-ih6lq Follow the directions of removing the plug wire from the coil. If you don't see spark, then you know its either the coil or the module. Swap one coil for the one with no spark. If the no spark follows the switch, its the coil. If its still at the original location (this was mine) then its the module. $185 and 1/2 hour of your time.

I always cleaned the flat surface the module mounts to and used thermal paste between the mount and module to insure it stays cool.

Hey thanks man I've never commented on a you tube video ever but after 2 years of frustration and my car being a pos I tried and changed everything but never suspected icm but after I watched this video. I changed mine and now my car runs perfectly. So yeah thanks a lot buddy 👍👍👍

My Lacrosse appears to have the exact same problem but it is throwing an 0600 code, which tells you nothing. I replaced all the coils first and the problem was the same, a bad miss in the engine. What clued me in was the location of the 'bad' coil. I tested three different coils on the same location of the ICM and none worked there but they worked fine elsewhere on the ICM. That told me the ICM was the problem and not the coils. I don't feel bad about 'wasting' money on new coils, they're cheap. What kills coils and ICM is heat from the engine. If the ICM has gone bad, the coils are next.

If you used this video and nothing else, you need to take everything back apart, research how it is really supposed to be done and put the thermal paste on the backer. That new module may not make it thru the first summer otherwise.

Thanks for sharing. I replaced the ICM and now my Buick Lacrosse is running smooth again. New spark plugs helped but the engine light kept coming on. It was the ICM.

Yeah Mine id doing it right now But Im not able to get this ICM under ny budget Can I use any other brand rather than GM or should i get one from scrap yard?

The only thing I would’ve done different is, I would’ve taken some fine sandpaper and a sanding block and sanded the aluminum base that the ignition module bolts to. I would also would’ve used some microprocessor paste so that the microprocessor had good conductivity with that base.

Pretty sure that's exactly what's wrong with mine. Replace coil pack for 1&4, still misfiring badly. The coil was super cracked across the top. When it happened, it blew my ignition fuse also. I'll try the ICM also.

Yea I just did 256 dollars and still same problem jus not as. Bad..I did plugs and wires ignition coils still has a shake jus not as bad it's killing me

@dpro5321 hahaha thats a good one..well I cnt trade this in its a 06 with 195k miles on it so I gotta fix or try to fix it I'm gonna take it to a shop Monday and just lay them 140 to diagnose it and stop jus throwing parts at..thought it was the ignition ignition but maybe it was and other issues cuz it was running bad but the ignition coils and icm has it doing better it jus still between 50 and 60 it has a little misfire then smooths out and when I have my foot on the gas it will go but like all of a sudden take off faster like I hit the gas harder when I didn't...

My dad has a '04 LeSabre I'm driving (I have my own car which is a '96 Corolla but needs a starter) & funny enough, the bottom coil has the same no spark issue lol cause I went to start the buick up one day & it randomly misfired so unfortunately I've been driving around like that (only to work & back & my job is really close by) cause I was wondering what caused it, thought it was fuel related but all 6 injectors still worked, got all 3 coil packs, spark plugs (the ones near the firewall are a pain in the ass), wires, & the air filter replaced but still nothing so I unplugged one wire from the coil pack & started the car & the middle & top coil pack got spark but not the bottom one & even when I switch the coil pack around, the same issue persists on the bottom coil pack & other people that has the same P0300 code on their videos told me it was the ICM that was the problem lol one day it did start up perfectly fine like it didn't happen but the moment I pulled into a parking spot at my job, it went right back to misfiring lol

I got a 2005 Lesabre with the series 2 motor. Took it for a ride today and it started misfiring after it warmed up. It’s throwing a p0300 code. Makes me wonder if the ignition module is bad

my dad has a '04 LeSabre (have a video of it on my channel) that I basically diagnosed the issue where the bottom coil pack isn't giving spark to cylinders 1 & 4 & have the P0300 code it randomly misfired one day & been trying to find out why & alot of people told me it was the ICM I unplugged one wire then started the car & did the same for the other wires (so I don't get shocked when I do it with the car running) & saw that the bottom coil pack wasn't getting spark even though all spark plugs, wires, coil packs were replaced (also had the air filter replaced)

Sometimes a cylinder misfire isn’t electrical, but is due to a clogged fuel injector, or low compression in the cylinder (not super common, but can happen).

My dad and I replaced all the ignition related parts for p0306 and it still misfires. We did a compression test and it tested the same as the others. Could it be an injector??

I've had to replace ignition coil packs on my 2006 Buick LaCrosse I just got some AutoZone part 25.00 or so I didn't realize how different things can be produced and the aftermarket parts can be far Superior than the oe. That being said I'm actually writing this to talk about bite. I have an 65 horsepower Yamaha engine or Honda engine on the back of my pontoon boat I'm sorry I'm just haven't looked at it in a while am I 9.9 horsepower outboard is the other one. Now I was checking spark and we crank the boat motor over now I understand how electricity works I felt like I was safe while I stood there in the water holding the back of that spark plugs jacket be at the magnetic field or jump write up my arm made my fillngs feel weird

Help. Buick Park Ave. #4 coil contact completely rusted. New coil pack cured all issues. 2 weeks later same ICM error same issues. If the ICM was truly the issue I don’t see how it would be fine for 2 weeks? Could the wire and plug cause the issue?

Mine throws no codes. It does not misfire. It just stops dead in it tracks. I have burned out 4 ICMs. New crank position sensor, new cam position sensor, cleaned the ground connections, new spark plugs wires, new MAP, new MAF, alternator checked, puts out 14.4-6 volts, new coils. It continues to burn up ICMs. Once it stalls, it does not start again. I replace the ICM and it runs for a day or week, stalls again. Put in new ICM, rinse and repeat. WTF?
