I'm roughly 15:30 into the video, for a lithium cell that would fit in those pens (They're designed for this purpose) is the batteries that look literally like capacitors, Search, "huahui new energy 3.7v li-ion". The model I got is the HCC7240 version salvaged from a broken graphics tablet.

This video takes me back to the 1970’s, whilst in school. Built myself a signal injector/tracer just a bit larger than pen size, had to fit a PM-9 battery, lol… served me good for many years.
@1974UTuber2 жыл бұрын
Instead of making a circuit board, you could have easily done P2P wiring of the small parts and sealed it in resin in the pen body. Perhaps a AAA cell would fit in a thicker pen. Although that doesn't work well with the sponsorship deal

I made one of those 50 + years ago . Back when projects never fitted the intended inclosure ! Its fundamental frequency was 400 Hz ( +/- a lot ) . But had harmonics up past 40 Mhz the mark . Using salvage parts did the +/- a lot thing & don't help reduce case sizes ….

This video brought me so many memories. I still have the signal injector I built when I was 14 inside a syringe, a true signal injector 😂
@romancharak36752 жыл бұрын
Hello Richard. When designing the PCB, you might want to place the Push-Button switch on the board, somewhere closer to the front tip of the pen, for easier access when probing. I'm looking forward to seeing your design.

Thanks, I also want to include a battery holder clip on the pcb too if I can. 😉

I've watched your 2 videos about making a tracer and injector. Although they're not so hard to make but I think they're so useful to our everyday use. Good job !
@robtitheridge97082 жыл бұрын
if like me you work on a lot of vintage AM radios a signal injector is one of the most usefull tools you can have but will need a high voltage cap feeding the probe the more harmonics it produes the better will work right up to RF .

PCBWay sponsors virtually all your videos. ...have you considered designing a PCB for these circuits? That would be cool

Nice work. I got a few woulda, coulda, shouldas for you. The button: a plastic bolt or something else coming through the other side of the ink pen housing could have made pushing it up into position easy for you. The battery: I would have tried using a cell out of a 9v battery for that, maybe even 2 may fit into it. You could easily soldier to the welded tabs. I didn’t quite understand how the receiver was made. It seemed like you built a prototype circuit board and then switched to something else at the end. I didn’t see how that was made. Just my two cents.

Thanks for giving up your Sunday to build the signal injector Changi g the subject I was watching one of your videos dealing with internet streaming devices and using 5 volts instead of 12 volts. I am surprised they they had not included some undervoltage protection of some kind overvoltage protection on the 5 volt model for the same reason for people pluging 12 power packs into a 5 volt device. By the way I am enjoying your content.

I responded to this same question several times on that video, so you can refer to those comments for more detail - but basically, as the supply voltage is decreased the pulse width (on-time coming form the buck controller) increases to maintain the output voltage. If the circuit designer selected the inductor to work with the correct input voltage and if the inductor then saturates before the supply voltage gets low enough to trigger, the UVLO protection will not save the buck controller.

Did you cut the piece with vice trips or what.... button cell 357, a pen light with a modified light end might be easier. What would be interesting is using one of the multicolor lens with different functions with the ink selectors. I'll have to think more on that.It's

I know it’s cheating a little but I’ve heard of this place called pcb way and they might be able to make a board that would fit. Don’t know if you’ve heard of them? Possibly with a neg contact plate for the button cell and a hole for a diy wire arm for the positive. Also button up closer to the tips gotta be nicer ? Lovely project, Richard. Making me want to get the Vero board and components out and play 😁

Because it's fun? And anyway, what if you don't have the money (due to socioeconomic conditions in your part of the world ) to buy a function generator or BNC probe? And why shout?
