Looks like you did not do bird mouth cut on rafters where they attach to the beam on front? Not needed because of short slope Or you tried to explain it using how to put the front outer beam and then do the front inner beam? We are planning to build one pergola, really need that slope in case we do any roof in future.

I know its a little more time consuming but I would have used Simpson screws you may someday want to disassemble and nails are a bugger !! Looks great !!

How were the rafters attached away from the house? Just nails or something else? Looks like they are just sitting there

Looks great! It’s all personal preference….. but definitely would be great with the tin roof and painted to match your house once the wood dries out. Great job as always👍

I’ve been really wanting to do the same in the back of my house. Do you have any plans to do anything with the grass under it? Maybe use brick and pavers to make a patio? That’s what I’ve had in mind. It turned out great! 🤙🏼

Thanks man. The next stage is building a deck under the whole pergola. It’ll be about an 8” step up due to the elevation drop but it’ll add a lot of dimension to the back of the house. Sometimes with slab homes the look so flat to me.

@@ProjectDadLife can’t wait to see it! And I know exactly what you mean about slab homes. My first house was a slab. Seemed like no matter what I did on the outside it just seemed one dimensional, if you know what I mean. Wish I would have thought of doing this.

I used ledger anchor bolts. It’s attached to the triple 2x10 running along the back of my porch
