Thank you for these high-effort videos. I can't tell you how amazing it is to find someone doing such in-depth KSP videos for the modern game. You are the modern Scott Manley.

The amount of things I learn in your videos is insane. I learn about the main topic and usually 20-30 other things I didnt know before, including new shortcuts that have made my life so much easier since I started. Thank you Mike 👍 the depth you go to and your clear, friendly delivery makes these videos such a joy to watch.

Had 10 hours in KSP before KSP 2 came out, found your channel and switched to doing KSP1 career. Your videos are awesome, thanks for all the work and great explanations.

Great video! There is a way to get a more efficient rendezvous though. When doing the correction burn, instead of passing over the poles just focus on ensuring your periapsis lines up with an ascending/descending node. This does mean that you are not initially putting yourself into a polar orbit. The advantage of this is that your plane change correction will be exactly at apoapsis near the sphere of influence edge, which can bring down the Delta v cost to effectively zero.
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
Good catch for technique 2, though technique 1 still wins as there was almost no plane change at all.

I'm trying to make my mun/Minmus lander ATM, kitted out with all the science I have access to. Unfortunately I'm doing a terrible job of getting there... I'm pretty decent at smaller rockets, but I appear to have reached a wall. Looking like time to go figure out what "Booster 7" was, as my payload is only a little under that heh. Might also go brush up on asparagus staging...
@mutilatedpopsicles5 ай бұрын
Did you do it yet? I recently completed my second minmus landing as well as my first mun landing. It seems complicated, but after a few quick saves and multiple different rocket designs, I have it down pat

Got em both there but no RCS left, rebuilding them both with more RSC tanks but I had em within 10 meters of each other thanks to this video. Off to add RCS to the tank and quadruple the mono in the hab!!!

Thanks for these videos! Quick question. When you say in a tip, at 11:38ish, that an engineer csn remove "these blocks" after installation, are you referring to the wee rcs boosters? (Saying that, my asking is a bit of a moot point... Im stuck on console so it's probably a feature im missing, like navigation lights!)
@MikeAben6 ай бұрын
Yes, I was referring to the RCS blocks. Unfortunately, I think you're right about that feature not being available on console.
@vrenibowe6 ай бұрын
Okay dokes, thank you! And thank you for replying (and so quickly)! Honestly, the navigation light is the thing I'm most gutted about not having. I'm stuck slapping illuminators onto my ships and they look totally daft, drain power like mad, and are often juuuuust pointing the wrong way, so they don't actually light up my ship. Gonna use them on my lander though, on hinges so I can deploy them when landing!

is there anything special you have to do in order for the contract to register the fuel after it is docked? I am trying to complete a contract to make a base on minmus, and I went through quite a slog to land and connect a fuel tank similar to the one you made in the last tutorial episode. For some reason, the contract is not completing even though I have docked the base and the tank together. The base is actually the same one you recently made a tutorial for on minmus as well. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
Once docked, the game sees it as a single vessel. There's nothing else that needs to be done. Go over the contract requirements carefully and make sure you've not missed something (it's easy to do), but contracts can get borked. It's happened to me. If you are satisfied you've done everything, I would use the game's console menu (Alt-F12) to award yourself the contract.
@keks-692 ай бұрын
What's the Menu used at 22:50? Is that within the base game/DLCs or from mods?
@MikeAben2 ай бұрын
Everything in this series is the base games without DLC and no mods, though some features are not available on the console version.
@nickytax101 Жыл бұрын
so when making a library of booster keep it on vacuum?
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
For delta-v of rockets, I only look at vacuum.
@theHoIe Жыл бұрын
why not add the fuselage docking hub to your sub assemblies, lol
@garyengelman7867 Жыл бұрын
Why not do this in multiple launches, 2 and not 1?
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
If you count the crew coming up, it was actually 3. That said, it could have been done in a single launch but that would have given me less to talk about. The purpose of this series is to go over various skills, not to launch as big and as complex a thing as I can.
@Mathewluapo Жыл бұрын
Does this have mods because I don't get that many rcs thruster blocks.

@@MikeAben I personally think it's a good idea to have a trailer, a nice quick introduction to what's coming
@Mr76Pontiac Жыл бұрын
@@MikeAben For me, personally, I'm of two minds. On one, and the more prominent, I want to know whats been published for viewing in its entirety. I'm not really interested in the "This is coming SOON" thing. (I also absolutely LOATH the "Shorts" videos). When I'm looking at my subscriptions list, it's to see what IS available to watch right now, fully, and not see a page full of "Press this button for notifications for stuff coming next month!" (Sarcasm/stretch/etc). With the subscriptions I have, I've got a "pretty good" idea of when the posters have put stuff up. Direwolf20, 7 am local, every day. Some, weekly, every Monday afternoon. Others, whenever they get the chance, sometimes several times a day. Often times when something is planned to come out, I'm busy with work anyways when it's supposed to be published, so, there's no real reason for me to be aware of it. On the other hand, and I know some are about wanting the heads up, to know something is coming is kind of a draw to come back to the list. For me, that's less important because I'm looking at the list anyways pretty much after every video I consume. With absolute respect, you do you and run the channel as you like. I like the content, I'm subscribed, and I absolutely do look forward to seeing whats there. For ME, and me alone, as I would never speak on anyone elses behalf, I don't dig trailers, shorts, or "notify me" options. If I could filter that kind of stuff, I would. But again, for others, I'm sure there are some that DO like the notifications, and want to know about what's upcoming. I prefer to be surprised. ;)
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
@@Mr76Pontiac All fair enough. The thing is, this is a premiere with a live chat, so it has to be posted ahead of time. The only other option to the trailer would be just a thumbnail. I get live events aren't your thing, but I know a lot of folks like them and I enjoy the chance to chat and engage. The funny thing is, I myself rarely watch live events, unless it's like a real world event that is actually happening. Same for shorts. I never watch them myself and ignore my shorts feed, but they, by far, get the most engagement of anything I do, so I'll keep making them.

@@Mr76Pontiac Thanks for the feedback, though. It is appreciated. It sounds like your viewing habits don't differ too much from mine.
