Dari perspektif kesehatan, pohon berfungsi sebagai tempat pelepasan karbondioksida (CO2) pada malam hari. Meskipun pohon menghasilkan oksigen pada siang hari melalui fotosintesis, pada malam hari proses tersebut berhenti, dan pohon justeru melepaskan CO2. Berdiam di bawah pohon dalam waktu lama pada malam hari bisa membuat seseorang menghirup lebih banyak CO2, yang bisa berdampak negatif pada kesehatan, terutama jika berada di ruang yang tidak memiliki sirkulasi udara yang baik.
