Kev: Back in the day, we used to modify plastic car kits with a tool that looked like a soldering iron with an Xacto blade on the end. Plugged in, the blade heats up and allows a clean cut through any plastic. . I assume this tool still exists. Might help.

I would say make sure the drive shafts are attached properly other wise the gears will need to be replaced

Try hobby plus cr 18 rear drive shaft and links asian tees may have them longer wheel base in rear
