Reckon you could use two driver side manifold and have the turbo sitting passenger side?
@TorqHub2 жыл бұрын
Hey John! Unfortunately you can't use a driver's side cast exhaust manifold on the passenger side because it hits the oil pump when facing forward. You can use 2x passenger side manifolds and keep the turbo on the passenger side though. That's what most normal people do and what I'd recommend anyone else to do also. Thanks for watching mate and Goodluck if you decide to make a set for yourself.
@jcspeedshop2 жыл бұрын
@@TorqHub haha “normal” people. So do you flip the passenger side so it points forward still? I’m toying with the idea for my 355
@TorqHub2 жыл бұрын
Nah you don't flip that one at all, you end up leaving passenger side pointing backwards like standard and then route the piping back under and forwards towards the turbo flange. You'll have to hard 180° out of the manifold flange, go under the engine mount and then then pop up behind oil pump to where your turbo flange will be. Pretty straight forward just a bit of fiddling around.

@TorqHub3 жыл бұрын
Plenty more to come Ashtin! Got at least 3 Holden V8 powered cars to build at this stage, and I'm sure there will be others. VT engine has sequential injection as opposed to batch fire (not that this will matter here, will be running aftermarket ECU and coil on plug ignition with sequential injectors.) The VT engine also has the hydraulic roller camshaft whereas this one is a flat tappet design, and also a redesigned head combustion chamber which bumped them up slightly in compression. Otherwise, very similar.

Hey Tyler. Essentially at a minimum you'll need to fabricate turbo manifolds, dump pipe, and intercooler piping. Pick up a turbo, wastegate, 600x300x76 intercooler, stall converter (if auto), upgraded injectors and fuel pump, and find someone who can tune the factory ECU. Individual parts selection will be dependant on your power goals and application. There is no "one size fits all" method, in fact there are 100 different ways to skin this cat.

Thanks for watching Ozzie! We couldn't agree more. We don't believe that any one engine is "better" than another simply because its newer and cheaper to make hp. What are your thoughts, should i turbo or supercharge it. Seen ur vid n got me thinking i can do all that myself looks easy for me having engineering expernce. What size u think bebest turbo for it and what boost should run at?
@TorqHub2 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael! Choosing your power adder is totally a personal preference in our opinion and really should be chosen on what type of driving you do. If you're handy on the welder then a turbo can be a good option as you can buy a turbo and wastegate etc for a lot less than a blower kit. It is hard to go past the latest harrop supercharger kit's though as they make great power and are a bolt on solution. As for turbo sizing, something in the 66 to 70mm compressor inducer range is a great start with plenty of headroom to make some decent power on the street. Let us know which way you'd go we love to see some updates on the rig. Thanks for watching mate.

Hey man if i was to do this on the passenger side would it still work with x2 drivers side manifolds?
@TorqHub3 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, unfortunately you can't use 2x drivers side manifolds as the drivers side manifold will hit the oil pump on the passenger side of the engine. What you can do and what I have done before is, when putting turbo on passenger side, do the crossover pipe at the front of the engine using the 2x passenger manifolds and just route the passenger side manifold runner back towards the front of the car/ turbo. You go underneath the engine mount and around the oil pump. Hope this makes sense man. Goodluck

@TorqHub4 жыл бұрын
You can certainly get away with not cutting a hole in the front of the strut tower like I have done. There really isn't much room in front of the engine to mount a turbo in between with radiator and fans etc but you could relocate the radiator to the rear if you really wanted to do that. Most people will mount turbo on passenger side and put the dump through the engine bay sheet metal behind the strut tower. You can also mount the turbo "east west" on the passenger side and route dump pipe under the air box tray and back through in between suspension strut and engine bay on the outside too. Tonnes of different options to choose from, like I said in the video, you just pick your battles and go from there. Thanks for watching Veganstein!
