How did the painted one fair at the end of the season compared to the unpainted one? Did they do as well as the cattle panel? This was a very informative video.
@suzycowan50723 жыл бұрын
Raise them up 18" or so on the T-posts and you add another foot and a half to the height. Most vegetables don't climb or need support until they are a little taller anyways, so starting them at ground level is just wasting valuable space to climb or walk under. Just something to consider. Happy Gardening.!!

Just a tip- you can tie a piece of twine from the bottom of the panel to the plant for it to grab onto until it reaches the panel

Thanks for the video!! I built a arched trellis used the method in this video. I ‘m super happy with it. As mentioned in this video, wire remesh sheets are easy to find and transport. I was able to fit two sheets into the trunk of my Mini Cooper Countryman. The only thing that was harder than I expected was to spray paint the whole thing. The metal is skinny and I wasted a lot of paint. I’d probably try brush painting if I do this again.

Hubby has been watching your vids with me and he said he thought you used 2 8ft panels ;) I am happy to confirm his thought. He said those would be so much easier to use than the cattle panels we fought to get to our urban spot! Great vid Josh. Thanks for sharing

the 8ft panels are nice but these for sure were easier to handle and move into place. I think the painted them is going to be key to having them last

I LOVE the rusty wire mesh because it is barely visible in my garden. Where I live the deer are eager to dine in my raised bed area (30' x 30' area) ~ so, I stand the wire mesh panels on end & attach them to one another with zip ties or wire. I stand them upright utilizing rebar with tall bamboo stakes attached & wire/zip-tie the wire mesh to the upright stakes. They've been in my garden for more than 11 years now & are in perfect shape.

Choosing the flimsiest, cheapest materials very seldom works out well in the long run. That powdery brown stuff is called "rust." You're going to be seeing a lot more of that. Spray paint or not. Let us know how much of that panel is still left in a year, and two years etc. By contrast some of my cattle panel arches have been up for five years in humid East TN and they still look brand new. Unless you live in a really arid region where corrosion just isn't an issue, you've "saved" a very few dollars today (which you then spent on spray paint ) just to make sure you'll have to replace the entire thing a LOT sooner.
@Citystead3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's the cheapest and it was pretty firm. I have many cattle panel arches up also and they are way better suited for years of use. At the time I made this video it was hard to find cattle panels so this was an alternative option. I still believe it's a decent option and will care they can last a couple years
