Adhd brought me here. Subscribed because it sounds like it could be a useful skill to know. (That’s if I can stay focused on it long enough.)

I can't be the only person that used to tie these knots without instruction, as a child. I have gone through so many tutorials now trying to learn new knots and haven't learnt anything I didn't discover as an 8 year old messing around building dens in woodland and ditches or whilst wandering through the fields near my house.

Really? That's super cool. I think most people manage to come up with some knots, bus usually they're not as strong or easy to take apart as the "official" knots. But I definitely believe that if you do something enough you'll get good at it and find good solutions. Sounds like you had a fun childhood!

@@BreachtheBox very fun. Hated being inside, loved the cold, loved the rain and loved walking the fields day and night. Nothing better. It saddens me that as I got older days seemed to get shorter. All the fields are now housing estates. I am looking to get into Bushcraft to rekindle my childhood. And hopefully pass on that not to my kids.

once you got the clove hitch than you can build anything
@BreachtheBox2 жыл бұрын
The clove hitch is nice, but quite weak. So i often double it up to make it more secure

Good Video! I have used lashings many times. But never for such great projects. Today I discovered a Tool that I want to sugest to you. I have Not even seen one live yet but I'll build one tomorrow. In english it's called heaver. 4 Drehstock in German. I guess it's perfect for lashings. Thats why I want it. Riggers use it to put seizings on rope. Thank you for sharing!

great! thank you what kind of rope do you recommend for and outdoor treehouse ?
@BreachtheBox2 жыл бұрын
For short term structures hemp rope or sisal rope is the nicest to work with and made of natural material which is good,. Plastic (pvc?) rope is cheap but ugly and will disintegrate to micro plastic due to UV radiation from the sun and become weak after a year or less. Natural material will rot from moisture but it can be protected with natural tar or other preservatives to make it last longer. for really long term buildings rope is not the best solution, or you would need to replace every few years.

So would this greatly improve the working load of the rope I use?
@BreachtheBox4 жыл бұрын
I assume so since you have many layers of rope when using this, but I'm not 100% sure.

What branches can I use as rope for this technique
@BreachtheBox4 жыл бұрын
Some things you can use are spruce roots or willow bark.yoi can make longer rope out of them by twisting or braiding them together
