Great video! How many kilograms can the table be loaded?

This is awesome. I just ordered white countertops for kids desk. Figured they would be more durable. I was trying to figure out what else to do rather than have them on top of Alex drawers. This is perfect!

@@MADExUS Thanks the video, I'm going to do this upgrade in my office. I have a couple of friends that are telling me that this is not stable and will pull hardware out of the wall. Have you tan into any issues with this happening? I'm going to lag bolt it into wood studs into wall.

Thanks Matt! Yes first video post. I used to be a digital marketing consultant, I just never created my own content. Finally found a hobby I'm passionate about.

Thanks, man. We were able to pull something similar off for our laundry room/mudroom in our 1950’s cape cod. Only problem was that we forgot that the floor isn’t level lol. So, now our butcher block will have to be a bit unleveled just so it doesn’t stand out as much.

Hey what screws would you recommend for the flange to attach it to the wall? For the halex, you used the screws that came with the countertop?

Excellent idea!. Sometimes the simplest is the best. But, what about the resistance? How much weight would a desk like that support? Do you feel it solid or tremble when writing? Thanks in advance for your answers.
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the exact weight but we use it daily as a work station with laptops, monitors, etc with no stability issues.

Do you think it would be possible to put a hinge on this to be able to fold up to create more space at times?

I want to create a floating corner desk (into brick walls, not studs) but my carpenter is concerned that, doing it your way, the metal support bars will, over time, start to come away from the walls from the weight of the computers on the desk and people leaning on it. Has this happened for you?

How much load can you put on the table? I fear my 6 year old would climb on it, if I make one.

How well are these holding up to the weight of the counter tops? I was thinking about doing something similar to this in a room but using 2 and making a floating L desk in the corner for our two computer set ups.
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
6 months later everything is holding up. But keep in mind that we are only using it ask a desk. So nothing really heavy is going on top. Just laptops and monitors.
@Rangoooooo4 жыл бұрын
I'm doing the same.
@jeffbrazill7644 жыл бұрын
Also note these Ikea butcher blocks are not solid wood so the weight is a bit less than a solid wood table or butcher block. That being said, the distance of from thew all quickly compounds leverage on those bolts -- can't believe that's all holding this stuff up.

What color danish oil did you use? Did you sand it down first or did you just apply the oil to the wood out of the box? Thanks!
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
We used dark walnut. We gave it a light sanding before we applied finish.

Great video. If I was to use your model, but make a desk, as opposed to a floating work station, how many pipes do you think I would need to hold up the table top? Also, do you think the flanges would screw into the table top? Is that a good idea? Thanks
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
I think it will depend on the size of your desk. You definitely need to make sure their is enough support and that the desk is sturdy. There are some good videos on KZbin you can reference. You can screw the flanges into the table top, but you will want to incorporate a stringer for lateral support.
@usmankhan-tb2jw5 жыл бұрын
@@MADExUS what is a stringer? Sorry I am a beginner

Would it hold a 50 kg setup? I'm trying to do a floating desk and this is the best video i've seen.
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 50KG is pretty heavy. I only built this with the intention to hold a few monitors and laptops.
@JosifovGjorgi4 жыл бұрын
you can wall mount the monitors, that way you lose some weight
@taggertrose69525 жыл бұрын
super cool. If i were to do something similar in an apartment, would it be easy to patch the holes afterward or do you not recommend it?
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It should be easy to patch up and paint. Just two holes on each stud. Not too different from hanging a flat screen on a wall. Just make sure you have a good studfinder!

what size lag bolts did you use for this build? thanks!
@MADExUS5 жыл бұрын
I used 5/16" x 4" lag screws. I wanted to get as much of the stud as I could since you have to account for the drywall thickness and flange.

Lmao the worst part is, he wasnt even typing. He was just moving the mouse around and it already started wobbling
@tomsing984 жыл бұрын
I would be super concerned that someone leaning on the edge would rip those pipe flanges out of the wall. There's no reason not to use something like a shelf bracket that gives you a triangle, with WAY more ability to resist a moment.
@tomsing984 жыл бұрын
If you like the look of the pipes, you can still add those as decorative.
