In a normal plastic model kit with chrome plated parts, the instructions usually tell you to scrape or remove the plating from where the parts glue together, as it give a better surface for the glue to work on. If that makes sense!
@customfabrications2 жыл бұрын
That’s if you’re using plastic cement or solvent, because those products actually melt the plastic together to form a ‘weld’, (they are technically not glue). And cement and solvent does not dissolve the chrome, so it can’t ‘stick’ to chromed parts. He’s using super glue, which does not melt the plastic, so it doesn’t matter if the chrome is scraped off or not.

This model is beginning to look really great. I bet that heavy piece of metal is going to act like a counter-weight for when you extend the ladder. Just a thought.

7:09 Know something that might help with tiny little parts like that? Blue tack. I've been using it to help paint some tiny photo etch parts for the upcoming Titanic model. Works great at holding the little pieces.

I think I mentioned on the last FDNY build but all fire trucks are built from scratch by design specs from each fire house. I didn't know that until a few years ago. That's why they all look slightly different.

Hi wayne I remember seeing some movies with the very old type turn ladders where there was a person was at the back in a little cab steering the rear end

I wish I watched this first, at 21:02, where you attached the pole brackets to the top plate before mounting the top plate. I had to file one side off the bracket to get it to fit. I love the model, and thoroughly enjoy building it, but I run into so many quality issues that you wouldn't expect on a costly model as this. More thank half the magnets I encountered fell of, while some were affixed in the wrong spot or mounted with the wrong polarity. ** Edited ** I had to remove the outrigger to get the bracket in. I would haver filed away too much had I continued the way I was going. They should update the instructions so people don't run into this issue.

Have you finished this build yet, If so how many packs were there? Love the builds you do!

That weight should keep the model stable if you want to display it with the ladder extended. Shame you have a missing lens considering how much this costs.

The Americans certainly know how to make a good looking fire engine. Ours look rubbish compared to theirs....
