We have used BYL several times and love it! For this upcoming year we will be trying MBTP, as I was getting ready to start my planning I noticed that it reminded me of BYL. MBTP does have more traditional school type work, like worksheets to fill out and things, but I felt a lot of them could be done orally. I think we will enjoy it. Thank you for this video!

You could definitely do stuff via discussion, great point! They even have discussion questions included in the parent guides! 🙌

What were your thoughts on elemental science? I've been considering it for my rising 6th and 8th graders. We're currently using Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding, which I love for its thoroughness, but with 4 kids at home, it gets put aside due to prep time and teacher involvement.

So I forgot to mention that my student actually did this for 8th grade, because it seemed rather intensive for 7th. It worked pretty well for her except that now she is like I don’t want to do chemistry again for a long time. 😂

@ddchomeschool LOL, yeah I totally get that! It is a concern of mine that they will get sick of an entire year of the same science. Have you found any other science curriculum that you and your students have liked?

My son really likes the Real Science 4 Kids middle school books www.homesciencetools.com/science-curriculum-kits/real-science-4-kids/ And we’re trying the sabbath mood guides for my 10th grader next year, they also have MS levels: sabbathmoodhomeschool.com/living-science-curriculum/science-curriculum-form-3-science-curriculum-gr-7-8/ Both of those are like doing one topic for 10-12 weeks then doing something different. My rising 5th grader LOVES Bookshark science- they switched to trying to meet NGSS standards, so you don’t focus only on one topic.

Does Build Your Library come with answer keys? I bought a Lit Bite and asked on the site about an answer key and no one replied. Curious to know bc I need answer keys.

The version I have does not, but I believe that’s because parent will often be reading aloud to their children so they’d know the answer. Bookshark and moving beyond the page do.
