This video demonstrates how to make a $3 Didgeridoo that sounds fairly decent.
It describes the secret of how to learn circular breathing easily and advice for beginners.
It also demonstrates Didgeridoos in various keys and describes a few sources of excellent Didgeridoos:
didgeproject.com (sells and teaches Didgeridoo and Handpan - very nice selection, and great people)
inlakesh.com (sells their Awesome Music CDs and their own remarkable Digeridoos used in the CDs)
bhumsiva.com (Chad Butler, Oregon, maker of high quality Didgeridoos)
www.didjshop.com (In Australia, sells genuine Eucalyptus, termite-hollowed, Aboriginal-harvested, quality-graded Didgeridoos, online sound clips available for every serial numbered Didgeridoo)
There are also many other good shops I am sure, but the above I have personal experience with and am well pleased. I receive no compensation for telling you about these.

Circular breathing is basically the same principle as how the Great Highland bagpipe works.

Steve u made my day, great attitude, big australian hug from me (corona free). İ like people who takes their time with things and if u noticed ur shoulder movements while playing some of the didges it actually improves the play, somehow its the body playing with the didge and not just the mouth and lungs, excellent work, take care 🦁🐍🐸🔥🍯🍉🌋

I'm not sure what the fitting is called exactly. But they have it right in the plumbing section. And you can find a fitting that goes on this plastic pipe that will make it fit your mouth much better and reduce the whole

Very nice video, thank you for it. I've seen so many videos if people making PVC didgeridoos who don't know how to play one, so you never get an idea of sound quality. A couple of questions, if I may: 1. I've seen some builds make use of a female trap adapter fitting for the mouth piece. Do you have any thoughts about this versus the end cap method you use? 2. Presumably, more back pressure is easier to play? Thank you very much again for the video, and for telling us where we can get instruments made by the aboriginal artists 😊

Yes, more back pressure makes the didgeridoo easier to play (especially to do circular breathing)

@@SoundAdventurer Thank you! I ended up making one out of a single piece of PVC, and am using a beeswax mouthpiece. After a while, I heated the pipe up with a heatgun, gave it a bell, and also created a couple small bends and a twist - what an improvement in sound, as well as playability 👍

@@Ghost_Os Really? I've actually wondered if changing the shape of the PVC would make a remarkable difference in sound. Do you have pictures on Flickr or somewhere else? I'd love to see what you came up with.

@@SoundAdventurer It definitely improved the resonance, and it's easier to get a drone going. To be clear, I'm very much a beginner! I don't really have a presence on social media, but I can describe how I did what I did: I first made the bell by heating one end of the pipe until it was pliable, then pressed in down onto a wine bottle to flare the pipe a bit (it will only stretch so much). Then, sat down on the ground, and worked out where to place a bend so that I could comfortably play on the ground while supporting the bell / flare on my foot. Once I guesstimated where the bend should go, heated that section, and put maybe a 30 degree bend in it (it was eyeballed and estimated how much of a bend, and will of course vary with your body proportions and preferred playing style). Finally, heated another section about halfway between the mouthpiece and the 30ish degree bend; once that area became pliable, I twisted what I would guess to be a little shy of 90 degrees. 'Twisted' meaning the way you would twist a lid off a jar. I can't recall if I wore gloves or not at any point, but probably a good idea - the pipe will of course be hot where you're bending or twisting it. Keep your heat gun moving, and turn the pipe to heat it evenly all the way around and avoid scorching it. Have a safe place to set your heat gun down. In all cases, hold your twists and bends in place until the pipe cools down and takes the new shape. When / if you flare one end on a bottle, you may find that it becomes a bit stuck - mine did. A little careful twisting and wiggling freed it without breaking the bottle. Spraying or coating the bottle with a little cooking oil first would probably help keep it from getting stuck, or at least allow it to be freed easier. Just a guess; I didn't do it, but it wasn't too bad.

Thank you, Steven! Would you be interested to receive a (theoretical) schematic I came up with for a pvc didge in E with an E octave toot? Because I don't live in the US, I am unable to buy schedule 40 pipe, although I have successfully used pipe for sale here in my country. My design uses various diameters of pipe to approximate a conical shape. This is not a sales pitch and totally free of charge - I just love didgeridoos!
