Please do part three, I stayed in a yurt when I took a trip to Alaska and when I got back I got some land and I want to build a yurt village, your two yurt videos are absolutely amazing and the only reason you don’t have more views and subs is because most people don’t want to be self sufficient, amazing videos man I pray I see a part 3 one day, god bless

yurt is a life saver to anyone, men and women, young and old... Thank you for sharing, very much appreciated. I am interested, for what purpose do you leave those ropes hanging, is it for repairing purposes? Do you have a video of how to repair a wall and roof? How to install insulation for winter? Very important. THANKS! All the best for you.

16:18 If you shove a small Phillips head screw driver (#0 size is slightly less than 1/8") through the holes in both wooden slats before clamping them; making a temporary hinge from them. Then clamp the 2 slats together. Remove the screw driver. Now the two holes will be in perfect alignment. Next thread the string right through both holes, rather than having to eyeball the hole alignment.

How do we make a roof and the cool Mongolian Xanadu look on the top thingy? What about insulation and long term weather proofing? I was super excited about your videos, but then you never got to the good stuff.

This is great but I need to watch the whole series to see if its do-able by me. I have the land, the spruce trees, the sawmill and I think I could do it...its more aesthetically sound in my eyes...maybe with the help of my nephew and one of my sons I could give it a try...yurts blend in and dont look jarringly angular. Thank you for this...if it works I will let you know.

Very Cool! Can you re-specify the diameter of the rope you use? 1/8" seems really thin. thanks
@FoxfireHeritageFarm4 жыл бұрын
1/8" works well so long as you have good spacing between the slats, to little and its probably weak, too much and its overkill, mine are spaced 12" apart, the rope has not failed, its always the wood

Would Bamboo be a good alternative to traditional wood?
@FoxfireHeritageFarm4 жыл бұрын
I Think I could be, but not for snow load, maybe in tropical areas
@Drew-ce9ce4 жыл бұрын
Does bamboo not have a better tensile strength than even steel ? I’d hazard a guess that it could quite readily be used to form the lattice walls . Probably be lighter and cheaper as well ? There again there might be a reason why it isn’t/hasn’t been used before now. 🤷♂️

Anyone else having trouble with their knots tightening themselves over several moves to the point where there’s space between the slats of the khana? I’ve been using 1/4 braided nylon with a core. They turn out great on fabrication, but after packing up and setting up again several times, the snug fit becomes maybe a 3/4” gap, and I’m finding myself having to tie the knots all over again.
