From Garbage to Great - My FLL Robot Designs Over the Years

What were my FLL robot designs like when I competed a few years ago? Some of my viewers have asked to see the history of my competition robot designs through the years that I participated in FLL. This week, we take a look at my robot designs as I explain the distinguishing features of each one and the progression that led up to my most recent design, the ever-popular Sirius.

Hi. I've been following you for about 4 or 5 months now, and I have to thank you for your easy to understand instruction. I only started collecting lego last November 2016 for myself & my then 2 yr old grandson. However, your robotics captured both our imaginations and I recently purchase the EV3 Home set. Anyway, I have since been watching everything EV3 I can feast my eyes on and I have to say I prefer yours over that of many others. I have now started teaching my now 3 yr old grandson and I know we are going to have many hours of fun together. I would really like to see some of your robot designs and programming skills as to be honest at my age of 57 I'm finding it all a bit of a struggle to grasp it quickly enough. At this rate my grandson will streak past me...lol As to be expected eventually. Anyway, A Big thank you from LegoGrandad here in the UK.

I can’t believe you were the champions and the school wouldn’t pick up a Ev3 kit for the following year! Also you should apply to be an FLL judge that could be quite good.

Thank you for your videos. They are helping my son and me get into EV3 robotics. How many of each sensor and motor would you say is ideal for a comprehensive EV3 kit that allows for most of the popular builds available on the Internet? For example, I recently learned that it is good to have at least three large motors on hand (shirt folder), and one of your EV3 builds illustrated the need for at least two color sensors.

Hi, looking at your design of a 4 wheel drive that clips onto the base of main robot could work for our competition where the bot has to complete missions and then climb a steep bank. Do u have designs for the dog her trans between main bot and 4 wheel addition

No; the reason is that too many people are looking to copy my Sirius design for competition. I don't want that to happen because it violates the spirit of competition and gives people an opportunity to plagiarize my ideas.
