I did discover that the interlock is only fitted on Discovery 2's to the North American and Japanese markets. Quoting from the Workshop Manual, page 41-14: "An interlock solenoid is fitted for North America and Japan. The solenoid is located on the top of the transfer box main casing on vehicles up to 03 model year or on the selector lever assembly on vehicles from 03 model year. The solenoid is connected to the transfer box relay which, in turn, is controlled by the IDM. The purpose of the solenoid is to prevent neutral being selected on the transfer box when the ignition key is removed, thereby locking the box in either high or low ratio."

It's a box with gears in it, its a gearbox! Reminds me of when I was an apprentice. I was asked what a gearbox was for, I said it's a device to provide a change in speed from the input shaft to the outputs shaft. They said no, its to keep the oil in!

Interestingly enough, I just sourced one of these interlock LT230s for a special project. These are not very common in Australia, and I’m using the safety lock out for something quite different than what LR had in mind 😁. I will be building it with Ashcroft ATB, MaxiDrive 30% low range , extended sump etc. I’ll be watching these vids a few times to refresh and get a different take on it. Thanks Mike 👍🍺

I had to get a detend ball a spring and a grubscrew mine where mia i also had to replace both the hi low and difflock switches.

Mike I'm always impressed with your variety of music. And on a completely different note, I have recently purchased a bmw f650gs, I call it the land-rover of bikes it's a 01, it comes without a fuel gauge just a empty warning light this is normal on these. so I was going to retro fit one any tips tricks or gauges that you know of to make my life easier.

Mike. The biggest issue we've come across is those bloody prop-shafts front and rear have a dozen different combinations in Land Rover trucks ! Did you use the propeller shafts off a Defender or from a Discovery sir ? V.

You can just use whatever flange the vehicle calls for
