Building a 7 Tower Zimmatic Pivot UNDER 10 HOURS!!

Forgive me. I know nothing about farming. But every time I see one of these irrigation sprinklers I have to pull over to the size of the road and watch it in amazement. When you've watered one part of the farm, HOW do you move the whole thing to another part of the farm, to water other acreage?? Is the water source I see feeding it, just one of several that you have on a farm? Or do you add more sections to it, like extending the length of a ladder? I realize that it pivots when using a specific ground water source. But when you are finished with that source, and want to uses another source on the other side of the farm is there some way to drive the whole unit in tandem, like a caterpillar. Sorry, if this sounds like a stupid question. But I've been trying to figure this out.

Where we are located there is usually a well for every pivot so they don't move from field to field. On dry years these pivots don't shut off very often.

Why this machine didn't have drop hoses and sprinklers ?

They were back ordered, we had to go back and put them on later

Explain the tower boxes function

The tower box controls each tower, telling it when to move. When the tower outside of it moves a certain amount, it trips a switch that sends power to the motor on that tower and tells it to start moving. Because this tower is inside the next tower 179' it has a shorter circle circumference and after roughly 15 seconds it catches up to the tower outside and trips the switch again to shut it off. There is also a secondary switch that trips if the tower outside gets to far ahead and shuts the whole system off. This usually means there is a broken part not allowing the tower to run and stay in line.

Ok not to boast or anything but the guys that build pivots for our company can put up 2- 7 towers in one day

Yeah we aren’t the fastest, this was just one of our better builds, but we don’t build very many a year unfortunately.

might as well build them in-place.. and skipping the towing-in phase. There's times building them off to the side then towing them in later works too.. like this winter when the snow was 4 feet deep across the field..

No way this pivot was up in 1 day. Those guys are slower than us and we average a complete span per day. Also the sprinklers aren't on and the pivot is up, big mistake. There is a video on KZbin showing a genuine quick build. Those guys don't have time to stand around. AAAA or something, check that out.

Sorry boys but the way those guys are moving I don’t believe it I’ve built one in 12 and wired and running with hose’s sprinkler in central Washington I built Irragation pivots for 17 years just for my father-in-law Fred’s custom circle repair in business for over 30 years 🤙🏽👊🏽
