Love the new series Jeff! For sure you should berm the corner the dirt is also super soft and will speed up as it packs in. Maybe extend the run it to get more initial speed before the first jump?

Hey man, great vid! You guys managed to snap the mattock end of the pickaxe cause they're really not designed for prying at all, just chopping roots - best to just use the pick end or the breaker bar for that!

You should do a berm right after hip landing with a roller at the end of berm for more pump to clear the step up better. Also could then jump down the incline into the downhill.
@JeffKendallWeed

Totally! And maybe a bit of a shark fin effect with a step down out of the berm.

@Jeff I keep an old heavy axe for roots and sometimes I'll use the hand saw. Trail building where lots of roots and rocks really makes you appreciate the finished product. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride

Roller up top and dig down more (bowl out) just before the new takeoff. More downward momentum going into the takeoff may help with boost to clear the log. Also consider drainage. Nice use of the natural landscape!!

Have you considered using TNT to clear those pesky rocks? Also to cut those roots maybe a circular saw may come handy.

I'll be working my way into my own trails one day! Over covid I dug our "garden" into a berm and followed up with some rollers a skinny and a coupla line choices throughout. It was a project for a tiny space and I loved it!

Build a roll in off the roof or a deck. (Sell it to your wife as a an improved view of the property with storage below and safer access to clear the gutters.) Make the roll in removable boards that rest on the stairs, leave a thin strip of stairs exposed to climb up. Obviously you need berms first to handle more speed

It's been fun! Honestly I'm more excited to make a kid friendly trail around all of this, I find myself doing hotlaps on the pit bikes more than bicycling at home. Id rather go mountain biking than pitbiking, but for a 5 minute break from work, the pit bike is great!

I wish I had the time to do this kinda work, it looks so fun! Honestly, it would help if you had a roller and a roll-in to start the line to have the speed for the rest of your line. Sick to watch the progress, keep it up, guys!

Wow. Looks like the dirt is very malleable. For the last 2 months, I have been helping my friend build a brand new trail with berms, jumps, and step ups. We had an unusual amount of precipation dumped at San Clemente CA now. The dirt has been easily transformed into a fun flowy, jump line trail. The trail is still a "work in progress", I can't wait to visit Bellingham, and revisit Galbraith trails. Also Brown, Space Wolf, Devil's Cross, and BrownPow.
@JeffKendallWeed
@JeffKendallWeed Жыл бұрын
Yeah our dirt is pretty soft, but we're rarely mining for the "good" dirt that has the golden color to it. San Clemente has that amazing decomposed granite- that stuff can be so awesome in the wet!

Sleep on it. The trail always tells you where it wants to go. But, it's what you want to get out of it that will make the final decision. More speed captain. Run in, berm . . . ebike?

I think a run in, a bonzai into the hip, a berm/roller/shark fin thing, and just riding it a lot to pack it down!
