The first Gen P basses usually have a flat heel, whereas the latter versions have a rounded heel. You’re not the first one to fall victim to this. Make sure you are able to intonate it properly. I recommend people to install the neck and run a piece of yarn in the E and G strings down to the bridge in order to get the bridge aligned properly side to side. Also about 34 1/8” away from the body side of the nut to the saddles in mid travel (for compensation) for position.

I’m glad it worked out for you and now you’ll be able to be the expert and warn people about the two different neck heel profiles.

Nice job. Great color combination especially with the maple fretboard. Black pick guard.

hey. i have a neck and body for bass and the other components. I think my split coil pickups have been pre-soldered, except there is a longer wire. I think this is for the bridge. I noticed you had similar wire but the video skipped a little. I've read it's for grounding the brudge or preventing noises, but others say it's not important. What did you do with that wire? Also, did you put anything like shield guard underneath the wiring, or can you just leave it as wood? Nice build!

Hey! Yes is the bridge ground. There should be a hole from the controls cavity that goes to the bridge. With the bridge off run the cable and pinch it by putting the bridge on. Then solder the other end to any pot so that the strings are grounded. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Hi Good Day! I have the same thing 51 neck and squier pbass body.. if you don’t mind how did made them connect? Was there an issue regarding the intonation? Thanks in advance sir!🤙🏼🤙🏼
@rustyfenders1018 ай бұрын
I had to sand a little bit the neck pocket. It works the difference in the mm at the pocket are compensated by the bridge saddles. You have a good range to work with. Hope that helps!

Do you have the measurements? Thanks
@rustyfenders1018 ай бұрын
@@angelovillegas3521 No Mate. First check the scale length of your bass. A standard PBass is 34". So the 12th fret needs to be at the 17" mark for it to intonate. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I hope I can’t do this modification properly ☺️

The original 51 P-bass was modelled on the Telecaster which also has a square neck end, but from 54 onwards the styling (pickguard, etc) was brought inline with the Strat and that has the rounded neck end. If you look a pics of the Tele and Strat you'll see this. That said I've seen P-basses with the earlier neck on the later body (I think the bassist in Neil Young's band Crazy Horse has one) so it can be done. Easy mistake to make if you don't know. I learned the hard way putting a metric knob on an imperial splined pot (they have a different number of splines) and when I pushed too hard the shaft of the pot tore the metal back off the pot casing and trashed it. That was a cheap fix that become a not cheap repair.

Awesome didn't know that! The neck took a bit of fiddling but for the price I'm impressed with the bass. Hey breaking things is my way to train my self on fixing them! Thanks for the info! -coolandout-

@@rustyfenders101 it looks cool! I have a partscaster P-bass that is black and maple like the ones used by JJ Burnel of The Stranglers and Bruce Foxton of The Jam (two of my favourite bassists), but I'm seriously thinking of swapping the body for a white one like yours.
